Introduce yourself to Eastern Canada’s lesser known gems, from the laid-back capital, Ottawa to romantic France with a North American twist, in Montréal and Québec City.
First, take in Ottawa’s capital culture, from many of the country’s top museums, art galleries and stunning architecture. Embrace the “joie de vivre” and unique French Canadian culture at one of Montreal’s many summer festivals, buzzing bars and restaurants. Then head north to UNESCO world heritage treasure, Québec City to explore 400 years of history among its charming cobbled streets and walk the walls of the only fortified city north of Mexico. Best visited in the Autumn-Fall, Ontario and Quebec make a fantastic alternative to seeing the changing leaves in New England, with more wide open spaces and unspoilt scenery dominated by the spectacular colours.

Start your Journey
Ottawa
Full of history and with national landmarks at every turn, Ottawa is an ideal start to this multi centre itinerary. The city features some of Canada's best museums, art galleries and stunning architecture, all surrounded by incredible green spaces including Gatineau Park - perfect for hiking, wildlife viewing or just to enjoy some quiet away from the city. Canada's picturesque capital is made all the more charming by the sparkling Rideau Canal, which cuts through the very heart of the city. We love to take a leisurely boat cruise in the warm summer months, but in the winter you'll need your skates on, as the canal transforms into the world's longest skating rink, complete with on-ice shops and steaming cups of hot chocolate.
Montréal
With both French and English widely spoken, bilingual Montréal's dual personality is reflected in its architecture, cuisine and arts. Take a stroll among the mismatch of old and new buildings, sample inventive dishes and catch a show in the language of your choice. Be sure not to miss the city's main sights: the ornately decorated Basilique de Notre Dame, the panoramic city views in peaceful Mont Royal Park and cruising the waters of the mighty St. Lawrence River.
Québec City
You'll feel like you've left North America far behind in Vieux-Québec, Québec City's historic town with its feel of Old World Europe. Take your time to explore the grand Fortifications and pretty cobbled streets, pausing to admire Chateau Frontenac, the world's most photographed hotel, and gaze out over the St. Lawrence River. As night falls, embrace the romantic ambience with a horse-drawn carriage ride or a cosy candlelit dinner.
