Take this ten day tour of beautiful Western Canada to combine rural and urban delights into one unforgettable adventure. Journey through snow-tipped mountains and glaciers, rolling ranch land and vibrant cities in this varied and exciting trip.
Our Canadian Rockies tour starts in Calgary, where towering skyscrapers are silhouetted against the stunning white peaks of the Rockies in the distance. You will then head towards Banff National Park, home of historic hot springs and the Sulphur Mountain.

Make a brief stop at the breath-taking Lake Louise, which is one of the most photographed lakes in Canada. Next, wind through the dramatic craggy glaciers of the Icefields Parkway and switch vehicles to an Ice Explorer for travel over the Athabasca Glacier. In Jasper, take some time to explore this stunning area.

Your Rockies Trail Tour then lets you follow the pretty Yellowhead Highway towards Kamloops, a university town, along the Thompson River and through the Shuswap Highlands. Afterwards, head towards the coast, driving through western Canada’s ranch lands to Whistler.

Discover the scenic wilderness of Garibaldi Provincial Park before heading to the west coast along the famous Sea to Sky Highway to Victoria, the British Columbia capital on Vancouver Island. This impressive coastal city can be explored by foot, and, for a truly memorable experience, you can choose to take a whale-watching trip. Day 1

Arrive in Calgary

Room only

Fly into Calgary International Airport and head to your hotel to check-in and freshen up. The goal of this first day is to relax and familiarise with your new surroundings, either resting or heading out to explore this modern city, where towering skyscrapers are silhouetted against the white peaks of the Rockies.

To experience the city with a 360° view from 191 metres up, head up the Calgary Tower. Or take a dip into the past at the Heritage Park Historical Village or the Glenbow Museum, followed by a wander through the Eau Claire Market Mall to pick up some souvenirs. Fort Calgary is another fascinating historical site worth visiting. This is a great opportunity to try out the city’s thriving restaurant, bar and nightlife scene before settling down for the night back at your hotel.

Day 2

Calgary - Banff

Day two starts with a city tour before you head west into the snow-capped Rocky Mountains. As you leave the urban sprawl behind and approach Banff National Park along the Trans-Canada Highway, the majestic peaks of the Rockies will begin appearing. These alpine lakes, meadows and volcanic skylines will be your home for the next few days. Arriving into Banff, breathe in the fresh mountain air and take your first few snaps of this truly stunning part of Canada.

Day 3

Banff National Park

Prepare to be blown away by the views and ambiance of Banff National Park as you explore the region. There are several appealing ways to absorb the scenery: take a relaxing soak in the historic hot springs and enjoy spectacular views while mountain minerals caress your skin. If you prefer to be on the move, take a gondola ride up the Sulphur Mountain – or get your adrenaline pumping with a helicopter sightseeing tour to explore the Rockies’ eastern sections from the skies.

Day three also includes leisure time, allowing you to explore the town’s restaurants and bars, visit one of its museums or galleries, or take a stroll along the Bow River which offers breath-taking views of the forest and Bow Falls.

Day 4

Banff National Park - Jasper National Park

Your discovery of Canada’s Rockies continues as you leave Banff for the neighbouring Jasper National Park. Lake Louise is your first stop – this truly stunning expanse of turquoise and emerald green waters, with its backdrop of rugged peaks and glaciers, is one of the most photographed lakes in Canada. Next, continue north towards the Columbia Icefield, winding through the dramatic craggy glaciers of the Icefields Parkway. Upon arrival, you will switch vehicles to an Ice Explorer, a huge specially designed all-terrain truck for travel over the 10,000 year old Athabasca Glacier. This is a truly unforgettable experience and, for many, the highlight of this Canadian Rockies trail tour.

Day 5

Jasper - Kamloops

On day five you’ll get better acquainted with the magnificent Jasper National Park either by boat or by motorcycle. Take your pick between a Spirit Island Cruise on the glacier-fed Maligne Lake, or don a helmet and jump into a motorbike sidecar for a tour of the surrounding forest and mountain paths.

Next, it’s time to hit the road, following the scenic Yellowhead Highway towards Kamloops some 270 miles south. Prepare for more awe-inspiring and stimulating vistas – your route takes you along the Thompson River and through the Shuswap Highlands, a plateau-like hilly area in British Columbia. Spend overnight in Kamloops, a university town on the convergence of the Thompson and the South Thompson Rivers.

Day 6

Kamloops - Whistler

Today it’s time to head west towards the coast. Drive through the ranch lands of western Canada and take the Duffey Lake Road toward the world-famous resort of Whistler. You’re free to explore the cool town of Whistler for the rest of the day. Visit a gallery, indulge in some shopping or luxuriate in a rejuvenating spa if you’re feeling the need for some pampering.

Day 7

Whistler - Victoria, Vancouver Island

It’s time to absorb some more awe-inspiring coastal scenery as you take a spectacular drive along the Sea to Sky Highway. Sit back as you’re taken through the foothills of Mount Garibaldi and Mount Tantulus before hitting the coast at Squamish to open up fabulous vistas over the Gambier Island and the Pacific Ocean. Stop to admire the magnificent Capilano Suspension Bridge, a thrilling site that crosses the Capilano River canyon.

Continuing your journey, take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay across the Strait of Georgia before continuing by coach to Victoria. Here take a tour of the British Columbia capital, a former British enclave with a very English feel. You’ll even be able to see double decker buses, enjoy afternoon tea and experience the pleasure of real ale pubs.

Day 8

Discovering Victoria

It’s time to delve further into Victoria’s colonial past, starting with a tour of the lush and colourful Butchart Gardens. You’ll find impressive floral displays with a regal feel and a former limestone quarry.

If the sea looks inviting, you can choose to take a whale-watching trip on a Zodiac or regular boat, looking out for majestic orcas and admiring sea birds frolicking in their natural environment. For the rest of the day you’re free to explore this laid-back city at leisure. Options include tasting a craft brew in the afternoon sun or absorbing some delightful history at the Royal BC Museum, or the ostentatious Craigdarroch Castle.

Day 9

Victoria - Vancouver

Say farewell to island life today us as you head back to the mainland for your final stop – the majestic city of Vancouver. An in-depth tour of this striking metropolis takes in the Stanley Park seawall, with its impressive waterfront, as well as mountain views and forest, and the beautiful English Bay beach. You’ll also get to absorb the old town atmosphere of Gastown, with its cool bars and boutiques, and that of Chinatown, with its vibrant streets and exotic cuisine. You’ll then have a few hours to do as you please. Options include taking a stroll along the harbour, shopping for unique gifts at Granville Island public market. or admiring rare species at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

Day 10

Vancouver and home

It’s time for any last-minute purchases or must-see sites in Vancouver before you head to Vancouver International Airport. It’s up to you how you spend these last hours – perhaps a morning jog along the flora-fringed Arbutus Greenway, or a quick trip to the Museum of Anthropology.
