Miami Holidays

Miami holidays take you to a city that’s hopelessly alluring and charismatic. Sitting on the southern tip of the Sunshine State, Miami is where you’ll find sunbathers basking in the heat on beautiful beaches, world class shopping, endless parties and a colourful culture.

A mecca for Cuban immigrants, there are hispanic influences all around Miami, nowhere more so than Little Havana. Wander round this vibrant neighbourhood and see locals smoking cigars and sipping coffee, bustling restaurants selling authentic cuisine, street parties and Latin American art galleries. For a dose of colourful architecture, head to the Art Deco district in the South Beach area. Walk the streets and admire alone or join a walking tour and learn the history behind the stunning buildings.

Discover Energetic Miami Beach

An independent island city in its own right, Miami Beach is the beating heart of Miami. With over 7 miles of gorgeous beaches, including the infamous South Beach, the Versace Mansion and an abundance of fancy cars, it’s undeniably glamorous. If you’re looking for a party, this is where you’ll find it, with energetic nightlife and weekend street parties. To really feel the beat of this buzzing city, spend some time wandering around the art district of Wynwood and discover the remarkable street art of Wynwood Walls, then head to Ocean Drive and let your hair down in its many neon-lit open-air bars and alfresco restaurants.

An Orlando, Miami and Florida Keys multi centre holiday is a great way to see even more of the sunshine state. Find frills at Orlando’s iconic theme parks before taking in the unique culture of Miami, and then head on to experience true island life in Florida Keys. Or why not head further afield and make a stop in the Caribbean and find yourself unwinding on one of its many beautiful beaches?

"The best way to explore South Beach and the Art Deco district is by Segway. See the sights as you ride along Ocean Drive for celeb spotting. Discover legendary landmarks like Lincoln Road Outdoor Mall, Art Deco district, Versace Mansion, and Espanola Way."

"Leave the car behind. Parking in Miami is hard to come by and can be quite expensive, so take advantage of the city's trolley system or you could even hire an electric bike and explore the city on two wheels."

  • Art Deco Weekend

In January, Miami Beach sees locals and visitors flocking to its Ocean Drive for Art Deco Weekend. There’s three days of events, including a classic car show, an art deco dog show, a retro fashion show, guided walks, lectures and live jazz music.

  • Coconut Grove Arts Festival

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is a renowned celebration of art held over President’s Day weekend, with almost a mile of Biscayne Bay’s waterfront filled with artwork to admire. The wonderful outdoor setting, colourful artwork and vibrant atmosphere make this a great festival.

  • Miami Broward Carnival

Once a year, usually in October, Miami’s streets are filled with people from the Caribbean-American community for the Miami Broward Carnival. Unfolding over a weekend, the Broward County Stadium overflows with authentic Caribbean music, food and parties, culminating in a big colourful parade in the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds.

  • Jazz in the Gardens

Held in Miami Gardens each Spring, Jazz in the Gardens sees performances by both local and international jazz musicians over a weekend, with stalls of art, fashion and delicious Caribbean food. There are also art-related events throughout the weekend, including a National Poetry Contest.

  • Arepas

Somewhat similar looking to a pitta bread, Arepas is bread that’s made from sweet white or yellow corn. The beauty of Arepas is that they can be eaten anywhere, anytime, and are considered a snack worthy of kind of filling you like. Many are stuffed with either mozzarella or Swiss cheese but there are plenty of places throughout the city that offer some more creative fillings, such as hot dogs and chicken. You simply can’t holiday in Miami without trying Arepas.

  • Cuban Sandwich

Despite its name, the Cuban sandwich is a quintessentially Miami delicacy that you can expect to find it on menus all over the city. This infamous sandwich consists of roasted pork, sliced ham, melted Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles, toasted together in fresh Cuban bread.

  • Key Lime Pie

Though it’s believed to hail from nearby Florida Keys, this desert is also treasured by Miamians. Consisting of a crumb crust, a smooth and zesty lime filling, and a meringue topping, Key Lime Pie is a must-try on a Miami holiday.
