This journey begins with a scenic drive through the beautiful Great Rift Valley to Loldia House, situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha, with views across to Mount Longonot.
Built in WW2 by the Italian Prisoners of War, Loldia House is an original Kenyan home set on an old farm, where the pace of life is gentle. During your stay enjoy game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its abundance of flamingos and variety of water birds. Rhino's, both black and white, as well as leopard can also be sighted during your game drives. Other activities include boat trips on Lake Naivasha, Hells Gate National Park and Eburu Forest Reserve.
From Loldia House, youll travel to Mugie Conservancy by air with Governors' Aviation. Home to the Governors' Camp Collections newest property; Mugie House. Individual round stone cottages are perched upon a hill in the heart of the conservancy, offering sweeping views over the Laikipia plains and to Mt Kenya. A large main house with open log fires will host guests for relaxing cocktails and scrumptious meals, prepared from a creative menu with ingredients sourced from Mugie House's own vegetable garden. Vast acacia-dotted savannahs, olive forests and scrubby bush are a haven to a multitude of wildlife, including key endemic northern Kenyan species such as Grevy's Zebra, Jackson's Hartebeest and Reticulated Giraffe.
Mugie Conservancy is at the forefront of conservation, operating as a low-impact cattle ranch alongside preserving the delicate and productive eco-systems that host abundant wildlife. Mugie supports cheetah and wild dog research with the Cheetah and Wild Dog Project, and lion research through collaring and monitoring with Lion Landscapes. Cutting edge community grazing programs and community empowerment projects through micro-economic assistance have encouraged engagement and investment from the local community in the conservation goals of Mugie.
The final three nights will be spent in the heart of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, at the iconic Governors' Main Camp, Little Governors' or Il Moran. Nestled in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, the camp is in a prime location, perfect for couples, families and friends wanting to experience the best of what a safari in the Masai Mara has to offer. In addition, Governors’ Camp has been awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco Tourism Kenya due to the sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
Choose to extend your African adventure with a stay on the East African Coast, in Mombasa or Zanzibar. Alternatively, for a truly unique experience, fly on to Rwanda and trek with mountain Gorillas, staying at Governors' Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge.
