Napa Valley holidays: more than just wine
An absolute must during your holidays in Napa is a stop in Calistoga. This tiny town is celebrated for its mud baths, hot springs and unrivalled spa experiences. Lie back and let your stress melt away as the warmth and comfort of the mud or water completely envelops your body. From here, you will feel relaxed enough to head to Lake Berryessa and sit quietly beneath a shaded tree by the lake, or take part in the various water activities on offer. The lake boasts two marinas and three separate recreation areas, allowing you to enjoy an array of paddle sports such as canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding.
Fishing is also popular at Lake Berryessa, perfect for overnight camping trips. Start a fire, cuddle up with your loved ones and indulge in fresh, succulent fish. The subtle surrounding crickets’ song will be the only noise to interrupt you as you unwind. Pair this with a city break in California and experience the best of the state. Our experts will help you plan a multi-centre holiday in Napa Valley, combined with Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Wine, and people's passion for it is what attracts so many to this region of California. What brings people back to Napa Valley time and time again are the ways in which wine can be explored and appreciated. There are over 400 vineyards to choose from, ranging from small family-run estates to renowned establishments, each with their own story to tell. Enjoy strolling through the vineyards with a topped-up glass, board a wine train for dinner or hire a bicycle and pedal through the rolling hills of this region.

Napa Valley Wine Train
The Napa Valley Wine Train is an antique dinner train that journeys through 18 miles of lush vineyards and rolling hills, stopping to tour vineyards along the way. Choose from three different dining packages, served within the refurbished vintage cars, or choose a themed meal, such as the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater.

Outdoor activities
Paddle the Napa River by kayak or boat, cycle through the rolling hills and stunning landscape, walk local trails and state parks or play a round of golf. It's not all about wine in this region with a range of sports and activities available.
Natural hot springs and spas
At the northern end of the Napa Valley is the town of Calistoga, famous for its natural hot springs and volcanic mud baths. For a spectacular show, see California's 'Old Faithful' Geyser shooting up to 13 metres in the air every 15 to 30 minutes and reaching temperatures of 177°C or seek the curative properties of the hot springs through a wide variety of spas in the area. We love the Baths at Roman Spa for their warm mineral pools, mud baths and divine massages.
