Napa Valley Holidays

Lush, green, vine-covered hills reminiscent of Tuscany, the sweet, earthy smell of grapes, the tannin-rich taste of wine with its cool, silky texture - Napa Valley is a sensory experience.

With more than 400 wineries thriving on diverse soils and microclimates, it is no surprise the region attracts almost as many visitors as Disneyland. We love sipping a finely aged cabernet while Venetian chandeliers cast a warm glow across Italian marble-lined cave walls in Del Dotto Vineyards' historic wine cave.

Most of the regions wineries are family-owned and operated, so you can often meet the wine maker, but we suggest you schedule your visits to these wineries in advance to avoid disappointment as popular wineries book up in advance and the smaller ones need to know you are coming so that someone is there to greet you. Napa Valley is not just about the wine; there are more delicious tastings on offer too, from micro brewed beers to artisan cheeses and olive oil.

Why not see more during one trip? Combine Napa Valley with Yosemite National Park, or head to San Francisco for some city excitement.

Wine, and people's passion for it is what attracts so many to this region of California. What brings people back to Napa Valley time and time again are the ways in which wine can be explored and appreciated. There are over 400 vineyards to choose from, ranging from small family-run estates to renowned establishments, each with their own story to tell. Enjoy strolling through the vineyards with a topped-up glass, board a wine train for dinner or hire a bicycle and pedal through the rolling hills of this region.

  • Napa Valley Wine Train

    Napa Valley Wine Train

The Napa Valley Wine Train is an antique dinner train that journeys through 18 miles of lush vineyards and rolling hills, stopping to tour vineyards along the way. Choose from three different dining packages, served within the refurbished vintage cars, or choose a themed meal, such as the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater.

  • Outdoor activities

Paddle the Napa River by kayak or boat, cycle through the rolling hills and stunning landscape, walk local trails and state parks or play a round of golf. It's not all about wine in this region with a range of sports and activities available.

  • Natural hot springs and spas

At the northern end of the Napa Valley is the town of Calistoga, famous for its natural hot springs and volcanic mud baths. For a spectacular show, see California's 'Old Faithful' Geyser shooting up to 13 metres in the air every 15 to 30 minutes and reaching temperatures of 177°C or seek the curative properties of the hot springs through a wide variety of spas in the area. We love the Baths at Roman Spa for their warm mineral pools, mud baths and divine massages.
