Mexico’s Baja California region offers some of the most beautiful beaches and stunning mountain ranges that you’ll find anywhere in the country. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, surfing or sunbathing, there really is something to suit everyone’s taste.
Here you can explore winding side roads that slink through mountain passes before heading down to the nearest seafront to lounge away a few hours at the beach. You’ll have plenty of chances to spot an impressive variety of marine life in the crystal clear waters, including whales, turtles and sealions. We’d also recommend a trip to view the prehistoric rock paintings of the Sierra de San Francisco – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore Baja California
Located right at the tip of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, Los Cabos is the main tourist area for this region and has a fascinating history. Spanish conquistadors discovered pearls here in the 16th century. These days, this hilly region of spectacular beaches hasn’t lost its magical feel. It manages to perfectly balance upscale hotels and glorious marinas with a charming Mexican feel. You’re going to treasure your experience here.
The Sea of Cortez plays home to a range of different species of whales, witness majestic humpback whales up close and personal in their natural environment on our whale watching tours. The official whale watching season in Los Cabos begins on the 15th December through to the 15th April with many other species including orcas in the winter along with Bryde's and minke whales.
You’ll want to photograph the famed rock formation ‘El Arco’ in Cabo San Lucas while you’re here. Nicknamed ‘Lands End,’ it’s where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortéz and is a sight to behold.
Best time to visit Baja California
“If you’re keen to visit Baja California for a chance to spot whales, the best time of the year to visit is between January – April. This is when you’re likely to see humpbacks, blue whales and grey whales out in the warmer waters. Later in the year, you’ll have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks between June and September. July is generally the best time to spot sealions and seals.”

“Baja California is a haven for blue, humpback and grey whales, and spotting them is really easy. The grey whales are so curious, it’s like they are human watching".
“Head to Van Halen’s Cabo Wabo Cantina. Still owned and run by Sammy Hagar, try a cocktail or two, my favourite is the Wabojito".
