Our first trip to The Maldives

This was our first trip to the Maldives and we chose Reethi Faru because it's a new resort and we wanted to stay somewhere fairly small and quiet, but with enough stuff to keep us occupied for 10 nights. When we were researching different resort islands in the Maldives we thought that the accommodation at Reethi Faru looked lovely and modern; some of the accommodation on the other islands appeared to be a bit dated. We were glad that we considered this because the resort accommodation was superb. We got to the resort via sea plane transfer from Malé, which took about 45min, and stayed in a water villa for 5 nights and a deluxe beach villa for the following 5 nights. The water villa really was like something you see in a glossy holiday brochure. It was a very spacious room with a comfortable bed, desk, coffee table, tv and sofa. The bathroom has a huge bath tub, outdoor shower and indoor shower. The villa is cleaned twice a day and was spotless. The sliding doors of the water villa overlook the ocean (we requested to stay on the sunset side, which was arranged for us), and open up to a terrace which is perfect for reading, morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine. You can swim and snorkel right off the steps, although we gave this a miss because the steps were slippery and we noticed a few sea urchins. We loved gazing out at the sea and enjoyed watching the sunsets from our terrace. We could see beautiful reef fish from the wooden walkway; we even saw an Eagle Ray on one occasion. The deluxe beach villa accommodation was beautiful, but we couldn't see the beach from our room because it was hidden by bushes. We preferred the water villa but it was still lovely in the beach villa and we were glad that we were able to compare. There are so many things to do at Reethi Faru; relaxing by the pool with a cocktail, swimming, snorkelling, day trips, diving. There's a spa, gym, water-sports, and much more! We LOVED the snorkelling. It was the best snorkelling we've ever done, and on our last day Mr Turtle came to say hello to us ! We also saw baby black tipped reef shark in the shallows, which was really cool. We enjoyed a lovely sunset cruise, which was included in the all inclusive package. My husband did a PADI course to become a qualified free diver. It's a great place to learn to dive. The giant fruit bats in the trees were also a novelty! There's a doctor on the island but make sure you bring basic first aid stuff like paracetamol, Imodium and plasters (just in case!) I’d recommend taking your own snorkeling stuff because there's a cost to hire it otherwise. Bring plenty of SPF 30 and a UV protective rash vest and shorts for snorkelling (the SPF washes off and you will burn, as I sadly discovered!) You don't need to wear shoes; it's a barefoot island and we didn't wear our flip flops for the whole time we were there! The plugs were UK ones so you don’t need to worry about adaptors if you're traveling from the UK. There were beach towels, a hairdryer, and toiletries provided. Definitely go All Inclusive. All our AI meals were in the main buffet restaurant; there were a la carte restaurants too but you had to pay extra to dine at these (although the drinks are included). The good thing was that the food in the main restaurant was amazing! We'd go in there thinking that we weren't very hungry, and come away with our plates piles high! The main restaurant overlooks the beach and ocean, and on one occasion we saw a pod of dolphins swim past which was really special. We had a mini fridge in our room, but there weren't any extra beverages provided, apart from a welcome bottle of wine for my husband's birthday and two large bottles of water which were replenished daily. Everything you purchase in the resort, including food, beverages and excursions, are subject to Government tax which is around 23% We ate at the Reethi Grill on the beach on the last night and it was magical seeing the sunset and the bonfire! Special thanks to Mohammed, one of the waiters in the main restaurant. He was a lovely young man, always friendly and hardworking. Jitin at the sunset bar made great cocktails too. A fantastic holiday!

Superb

London, United Kingdom

We went to the Maldives to recharge our batteries. Reethi Faru ensured we did just that. From our arrival to departure we could not fault a single thing. The accommodation in our case was a luxury beach bungalow which had everything you needed. The staff from reception to the gardeners and cleaners were lovely and polite. The food was excellent with a large choice. We loved the Reethi Grill beach dining so much we spent 3 evenings there. The main restaurant was clean with excellent service from it's staff especially Rashid. The weather was warm and sunny. The beach was pristine and cleaned every day. We will be going back as soon.as we have saved a few more pennies! Thanks to all the staff it was a perfect holiday.
