Reethi Faru is located in the Maldives’ Raa Atoll, on the private island of Filaidhoo. Here you’ll find 150 spacious villas which combine colourful design with calming light and boast paradise views of the emerald lagoon and coconut mangroves. Couples will find privacy and tranquillity, while families can live together and embark on island adventures.

There are plenty of ways to explore the tropical shores; from windsurfing and canoeing to kitesurfing and jet skiing. Many of Reethi Faru Resort’s numerous bars and restaurants sit beachfront or offer panoramic views of the glistening ocean. Watch as theatrical chefs prepare dinner before your eyes at Reethi Grill, or seek seclusion as you dine on Maldivian cuisine at Huvandhu Garden.

If it’s rest and recuperation you desire, venture through the lush foliage to find the Coconut Spa, a hidden haven offering treatments and relaxation spaces. Alternatively, take care of body and mind in the fitness centre, which also offers meditative yoga classes.

Perfect getaway

Reading the reviews in the past I realise that we all have different preferences and different things make a place perfect or not. After spending 2 weeks in a water villa with all inclusive over Easter I can safely say that for us it was absolutely perfect. The island is small and intimate and we really enjoyed walking around it on the beach or across it on one of the many cosy sanded paths overhung by plants, flowers and palm trees. The gardeners were constantly working on building the whole garden of the island. It really is one big garden. The water villa was spacious and there are certainly worse ways to start the day than on the deck over the water with a Nespresso. Or watching the sunset with a cold gin and tonic from the minibar. Cleaned twice a day by the always so friendly staff. Bathroom is spacious with one open air shower, one under the roof (which we never used) and a bathtub. Personally we found the bed a little bit on the too firm side - but again I have seen others being very happy with the beds. The buffet was very nice and we usually had breakfast there, most lunches and some dinners. We were particularly happy with the salads section with crisp and nice lettuce. Dhiyavaru restaurant on stilts over the water always provided excellent meals with a nice view. Same with Reethi Grill on the beach. But what really made it perfect besides all of the above and the fact that it is an island in the Maldives are the people working there. Everyone from the caretakers, gardeners, cleaners and waiting staff was genuinely warm and accommodating with a smile and a hello at all times. You can probably find resorts that have even more drilled staff but on vacation I have no problem with experiencing that they forgot about the coffee I ordered once or twice when they so clearly want to do their best for me to have a good time and when time allowing engage in a conversation or crack a few jokes. No name mentioned, no name forgotten as there were so many who really were friendly and made our stay so perfect. The only place we didn’t quite feel the same good vibe was in the reception - not that we had any bad experiences there but we just didn’t feel quite the same “warmth”. The diving center also had some really nice, fun and competent people and I did the first few steps of getting my Scuba Diver licence so I could go on a couple of diving excursions with my wife to see turtles, mantas and lots more. Next time I will have my Open Water! We never tried the pool as we really didn’t feel the need with the ocean around us with all the sea-life and warm “velvety” water and all the bears around along the beach for cold refreshments. In fact we loved it so much we have already booked our next trip, this time with our kids, and we are really looking forward to celebrating Christmas and New Years there at the end of this year. On our first trip I booked through a travel agency but this time I have dealt with the resort directly which have also been a very pleasant experience. Looking forward to returning and see all the nice staff we got to know again:)

Good but not perfect

New Taipei, Taiwan

We stayed 6 night in Water villa. This is our 1st visit to Reethi faru but 5th trips to Maldivies. Our water villa is spacious and comfortable and has fresh water shower on the deck which is convenient. Snorkeling at north side of island was good, we saw turtles, baby sharks, eagle rays and so many beautiful coral fishes, but it was poor at another side of island, nothing but dead coral. Food was OK at Reethi grill but not good in main restaurant, on night we tried buffet in main restaurant and it cost us USD80/per person(incl tax), really overpriced. Overall we think this island might be good choice for the begginer to Maldives but lack of something to attract us coming back.
