What an unforgettable resort - couples, friends, vegans - something for everyone to experience and take away with them

London, England, United Kingdom

Being vegan myself and travelling with a group of friends, you may think the Maldives isn’t the destination to be heading to. But no, what an amazing and fun experience we had. The resort has a perfectly balanced atmosphere, which offers something for everyone. A tranquil environment for every couple to immerse itself in, whilst the watersports centre offers a rich choice of activities for those of us looking for some adventure each day. We met our friends from South Africa, who were travelling with their 4 year old daughter, which was the second time they had been to the same resort in 1 year. They also felt the same. Their daughter was even looked after and entertained by the extremely friendly staff members, which gave her parents some quiet time and allowed them to enjoy the island to its fullest. As a vegan, I rate the restaurant at 5*, which offered plenty of plant based choices and a different selection every day. Great if you want to do a healthy vegan week and not worry about eating bad foods whilst on an exotic getaway. Not to mention the island’s abundance of fresh coconuts, which were cold and so refreshing during the sunny days. Speaking of coconuts, please try the Coconut Spa. Experienced Balinese masseurs will offer a variety of massages and treatments - a truly magical experience and at very reasonable prices for a place like the Maldives and considering the facility was like a 6 star spa. All in all, a fantastic experience and one I would never forget and one I would highly recommend to my friends. All the awards that have been won in 2018 are very well deserved. It’s truly faultless! We are already planning a trip back for this October. Can’t wait!!!!

Almost perfect

Edenbridge, United Kingdom

We have recently visited Reethi Faru. This was our tenth island we have visited in the Maldives so we have a lot to compare it to. On seaplane arrival our first impression was it has the worst welcome in the Maldives! We are used to be greeted by friendly staff with drum reception etc. All we got was a hello then left in reception for about 20 minutes with a coconut milk waiting to be told what was happening. We did complain to a nice lady called Sony who tried to help, although we never saw her or any other member of management for the whole of our stay. We had booked two beach villas next to each other although were told one was occupied until the next day although we booked this over one year ago! We were eventually shown to our villas which were large and wonderful. We went straight out for a walk around and I have to say it is in my opinion the most beautiful island we have visited. The beach is absolutely perfect with white sand around the whole island. The snorkeling is pretty good too although the reef looks pretty dead mostly but this seems to be the case on most islands we have visited. This island really is nearly perfect but just lets itself down on some details. The food in the main buffet is the worst we have had on any island with the breakfast being the low point serving carton orange juice etc. The food all appears to be Indian based and mostly not of a great standard compared to other islands. Some of the staff in the main buffet can also appear not very friendly. Luckily we paid for the all inclusive premium package which meant we could escape from this poor food and bad house wine and instead spent a lot of time in a smaller restaurant out on the water called Dhiyavaru. It was a lot nicer there, although be prepared to wait up to an hour to get your food even when it's empty! We started going to Dhiyavaru for breakfast. It is run by a lovely Maldivian lady called Inasha in the morning. She was incidentally the only person we met who could sort any problems out as you never seem to see any other hotel management. For instance there were dirty towels on our sunbeds when we arrived, and they were still there four days later. She got this sorted as soon as we told her. She also got our mini bar filled which reception had ignored our requests to do for three days. She should manage the whole Island! There are some other smaller restaurants which we didn't try as they weren't included in the package Finally onto the water sports. This was run by a man called Marko. Him and his team were the most friendly and helpful people you could ever meet. I would also highly recommend the many fishing trips that Marko arranges. The best fishing trips in the Maldives. Apparently Reethi Faru has one of the top three water sports in the Maldives. So in conclusion we all agreed this is the only island we would return to but not until the food improves although not sure it will.
