Embark on a true Arabian adventure and travel through time during your holidays in Jordan. Known as one of the world’s oldest civilisations, there’s truly nowhere on earth quite like Jordan. A mystical land of lost cities and incredible heritage, prepare to be spellbound as you explore this fascinating country. You can even experience idyllic beaches for a rejuvenating rest.
Jordan is situated in the lowest point on the surface of the Earth. The country offers some of the best-preserved Roman architecture in the world, which are now stunning UNESCO World Heritage sites you can visit.
At the top of almost every itinerary is the Rose City of Petra. This UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its pink sandstone cliffs and iconic architecture that have been carved directly into the rock face. Dating back to about 300BC, Petra was originally an important stop for the trading routes across the Middle East. Today it stands as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and inspires a feeling of awe in everyone that visits. For a bucket list experience, ensure you take a trip to Jordan Rift Valley to admire the dramatic, beautiful landscape of this location, While you’re there, take a dip in the Dead Sea. Known as the deepest hypersaline lake in the world with a salt content of over 40%, you can effortlessly float across the mineral-rich water while it softens your skin.
Discover Jordan’s ancient city
Amman is a lively metropolis that exudes oriental charm. Visit the famous King Abdullah Mosque and discover the ancient remnants of the citadel. Close by, you’ll find the Archaeological Museum, home to a fascinating collection of Jordanian artefacts.

Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa
Holiday Inn Dead Sea Hotel
The landscapes of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to give the Middle Eastern country its full name, are nothing short of cinematic. Navigate the vast, red-sand Wadi Rum desert and you’ll feel like you’re on Mars. Step inside the ancient city of Petra and you’ll be transported back in time. Then, delve beneath the surface of the Red Sea for an underwater scene so surreal it could well be the work of Walt Disney.
Jordan might be more than 80 percent desert, but wildlife is here in abundance. Dive off the beaches of Aqaba to meet the Red Sea’s finest marine life, or journey into the desert in search of the Sinai rosefinch – Jordan’s national, and well-camouflaged, bird.
You might just mistake the entrance to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra for a mirage. Carved into the rose-pink cliff, it emerges from the desert to reveal a rock-chiselled complex of royal tombs and a sacred Siq, or canyon, all of which lay undiscovered until 1812.
The Dead Sea
The hyper saline lake, aptly named because no animal or plant species can survive the high salt content, the Dead Sea brings together breathtaking beauty, compelling history and luxurious mineral spas; a truly special oasis.

“Why not extend your stay with a visit to the beautiful coastal city of Aqaba? Gateway to the Indian Ocean, these warm waters and golden beaches offer you the perfect spot to relax and unwind after plenty of sightseeing during your Jordan holiday.”
“Take some time to wander around the Roman ruins of Jerash. The site is so well-preserved that it’s easy to imagine the grandeur of this city that once was. Highlights of Jerash include the hippodrome, which once hosted chariot races watched by up to 15,000 spectators.”
Get a flavour of the local culture through your palate during your Jordan holiday. Here are a few of our favourite foodie dishes.
Warak enab is a popular dish in Jordan, consisting of grape leaves stuffed with a special dressing of rice and meat. This dish is cooked in a giant pot, sometimes alongside other stuffed vegetables.
Mansaf is one of Jordan’s most traditional dishes, and is nationally celebrated with pride. Mansaf consists of rice, meat and yogurt, which has been blended together and cooked until well-done. Bedouin people would use camel or sheep meat, but today, this is often substituted with beef or chicken.
Falafel is a Jordonian classic. This combination of ground chickpeas is mixed with a variety of spices, then deep fried into balls or patties. You can eat it alone or combined with salads in a wraps. The falafel in Jordan is some of the best you will ever try.
