Bursting with lush flora, beautiful beaches and idyllic fishing villages, your holiday in Phan Thiet is the chance to experience the natural beauty of Vietnam. Together with the nearby village of Mui Ne, peaceful Phan Thiet provides a welcome break from the chaos of the city while still offering plenty of intrepid travel.
As the capital of Bình Thuận Province, Phan Thiet occupies a picturesque spot on the southeast coast of Vietnam and is home to a number of pretty fishing villages and beach resorts, including the neighbouring and popular beach resort of Mui Ne. It’s easy for you to be drawn to the town by the stunning red sand dunes of Mui Ne. Climb to the top of the dunes at sunset for an idyllic view of the ocean, which is intensified by the deep red hue of the sweeping dunes. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush then why not hire a dune buggy or sand-sled for a fun way to get back down?
Phan Thiet holidays offer laidback coastal charm with vibrant twist
You can continue to discover the dramatic landscape of Phan Thiet with the Fairy Stream. This is a natural rock formation and running stream known for its vibrant red, white, orange and pink hues. Marvel at the intricate patterns and be sure to take some pictures of this stunning natural wonder, which is flanked by sand dunes on one side and flowers and trees on the other. If you intend to visit Fairy Stream during your Phan Thiet holidays, take a change of shoes, as you’ll be wading through the crystal clear waters during your visit.
At Mui Ne’s fishing village, you can immerse yourself in the region’s proud fishing heritage and witness the colourful boats in the harbour. A trip at dawn gives you the chance to see local fishermen sorting their catch of the day. The harbour also has a number of seafood restaurants and gift shops, making it a pleasant place to spend a morning, rounded off with a seafood lunch.
Phan Thiet is famous for its fish sauce, which flavours nearly every Vietnamese dish and is often served as a dipping sauce.
As part of a wider tour of Vietnam, Phan Thiet is the perfect place to relax, unwind and see some of the country’s awesome natural beauty while taking a break from hectic city life.

Explore Phan Thiet
Golf
10 miles or so from the main town, Phan Thiet's best beach is the long sandy stretch of Mui Ne Bay, lined by upscale resorts and beach bungalows. This is where the majority of our hotels are located and it's the ideal place for a beach holiday or to relax for a few days after a tour of the country. Enjoy the local restaurants and bars, enjoy a spot of kitesurfing or explore the nearby fishing villages. Also, not far from the beach you'll find the lofty Red Dunes, giving gorgeous views of the area, not to mention the chance to ride down the steep slopes on a sled. Go on, you know you want to.
Windsurfing
Designed by UK golfing legend Nick Faldo, the world-class Ocean Dunes Golf Club is one of Phan Thiet's main attractions. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole, par 72 course is all sea views, sand dunes and palm trees. Faldo has compared it to a Scottish seaside course, but this time in a warm tropical setting. There is also a putting green, driving range and club house with shop and restaurant.
Cham Ruins
Thanks to the steady, strong winds of Mui Ne Bay, Phan Thiet holidays tempt wind and kite surfers from all over the world. If you are a beginner or just want to polish up your skills, you can enjoy lessons with qualified instructors at cheaper rates than most other windsurfing hotspots, and you will meet plenty of fellow windsurf addicts.

Events & Festivals
Festivals and events are wonderful to include during your Phan Thiet holiday, offering a glimpse into the country’s authentic culture and traditions.
Nghinh Ong Festival
This fun and lively two day Nghinh Ong Festival takes place during the lunar calendar around the month of July at the city’s delightful Ong Pagoda. You’ll find that this ancient pagoda is decorated in flower garlands for the occasion, making it a riot of colour. Thousands of Vietnamese and Chinese participants descend on the temple during Nghinh Ong Festival to worship the whale and pray for health, happiness and good fortune for their family and friends.
At night, the festival is a vibrant celebration of traditional culture and includes dramatic performances, known as hat boi, and traditional folk song recitals (hat ba trao). The celebration concludes with extravagant parades, hanging colourful lanterns, and a spectacular dragon dance.
Local Cuisine

Banh canh chả cá
Banh canh chả cá is a thick noodle soup and is a Phan Thiet speciality that’s not to be missed. Fried minced fish - often mackerel, flathead, cobia or greater amberjack - is added to a flavourful broth, which is best served with a sprinkle of pepper, coriander, and a dash of fish sauce.
