Hoi An holidays are bursting with charm and history - this is an essential stop during your tour of Vietnam.
Hoi An has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 and its accolade is well deserved. The town is a beautifully-preserved example of an ancient Vietnamese trading port in which there’s a wonderful cultural fusion of Southeast Asian and international influence.
Hoi An escaped much of the damage of the Vietnam War, which means Hoi An’s Old Town is wonderfully intact. This historic quarter of Hoi An is the perfect place to take a long walk, shop for local handicrafts and sample some of Hoi An’s unique and tasty dishes while savouring the city’s unique character. If you wish to add a little romance to your Hoi An holiday then we highly recommend you spend time at the focal point of the Old Town, the Japanese Covered Bridge. The bridge is covered in ornate carvings of dogs and monkeys and spans 12 metres. Elderly couples and young lovers alike often come here for a romantic walk.
History, culture, beautiful beaches and a touch of romance - Hoi An holidays have it all
Situated in Central Vietnam and easily accessed from both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Hoi An is a wonderful place to visit and is packed with original Vietnamese charm, with its tree-lined streets, impressive architecture and pretty location being situated right on the banks of Thu Bon River.
For a little taste of paradise just outside the city, head to An Bang beach, where white sands and crystal clear water are waiting for you. If a day at this Hoi An beach resort isn’t enough, then you can always rent a lovely villa overlooking the ocean, or stay just a little longer and dine at one of the nearby seafood restaurants.
Hoi An has cemented its place as the tailoring capital of Vietnam and so no trip to Hoi An would be complete without a trip to the tailors. The city’s tailoring heritage stems back to the days of the silk route and today, you can pick up handmade suits and dresses for a bargain price and turnaround time is impressive too. To ensure you’ve had the ultimate Hoi An experience, take time to browse the many tailors and get a unique couture item just for you.

Events & Festivals
Festivals and events are wonderful to include during your Hoi An holiday, offering a glimpse into the country’s authentic culture and traditions.
Hoi An Full Moon Festival
Hoi An Full Moon Festival is a time when the local Vietnamese people celebrate and honour the full moon. This beautiful and ancient tradition takes place on the 14th day of each lunar month. During the festival, Hoi An’s usually busy streets become dreamy, romantic lanes. Electric lights are replaced with the intoxicating warm glow of colourful lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere. Hoi An’s public spaces come alive with cultural activities like bai choi (traditional Vietnamese opera) and poetry recitals. Perhaps the most spellbinding part of the festival is when pilgrims gather at Hoa River, setting twinkling flower lanterns afloat as they make a wish to the full moon. Hoi An Full Moon Festival is an unforgettable experience and well worth timing with your holiday in Hoi An.
Local Cuisine
Get a flavour of the local culture through your palate during your Hoi An holiday. Here are a few of our favourite dishes.
Cao lầu
Cao lầu is the signature dish of Hoi An and we highly recommend you try it. Expect a moreish combination of chewy, udon-like rice noodles and Chinese-barbecued pork slices, tossed with beansprouts, croutons and fresh herbs. This is then smothered in a rich pork gravy that creates an aromatic, warming dish. True cao lầu can only be found in Hoi An - the noodles are cooked using water from hidden and ancient Cham wells, and the fragrant greens come from the local vegetable village of Tra Que.
Cơm gà
Hoi An’s Chinese influence can be tasted in a bowl of delicious Cơm gà, otherwise known as Hoi An’s chicken rice and is the city’s answer to Hainanese chicken. Cơm gà is a fresh and tasty salad, with herbs and sliced onions, mixed with shredded chicken. Make a pit stop at Cơm gà Ba Buoi on Phan Chu Trinh Street for a delicious light lunch.
