Amazing, amazing, amazing!

Sheffield, United Kingdom

What can I say? Words can't describe how wonderful this hotel is, not least because of the amazing staff who I am privileged to say became much loved friends. I am not ashamed to say that I cried a little as we left behind this beautiful place and all its beautiful people, and my two girls positively sobbed all the way to the airport (our love to any and all of the staff who might be reading this review from us, the King family xxx). Firstly I have to name a number of people - the lovely Mr Antoine who brightened each and every day and made our girls giggle fit to burst; Saleem, the most wonderful barista who made us all amazing drinks each day; Kay who arranged a number of fantastic celebratory moments for our birthdays and wedding anniversary; the lovely Sophie who showed us around when we first arrived and who my girls absolutely adored; Dave and Vick in Mixe and at the food truck; Kris and Varsha in Beach Rougge; and the staff in and around the KBar who even managed to arrange for my drum-mad daughter to play with the band on one occasion. Every single member of staff we met at this hotel made our stay wonderful, special and memorable! We had a family suite - two interconnecting rooms joined by a small shared hall. The rooms are clean and well stocked with toiletries and serviced brilliantly by the staff. Situated on the ground floor, we were able to walk from from our veranda down onto the beach or around to the pool, which was fantastic when we didn't want to make our way all through the hotel in our swim wear. The food: the restaurants are wonderful, as is the food truck, where we ate all of our lunches. The buffet is top notch and we had three wonderful evening meals in Beach Rouge too. On the night we had our anniversary dinner, Kay had arranged for us to have a special meal delivered from the Amari restaurant to our table in Mixe (the buffet), understanding that we wanted to spend our holiday together as a family rather than being separate and we were incredibly touched by this kind gesture. I think we visited Saleem at Cafe LUX at least twice a day and our girls can thoroughly recommend the Babycino and the Chocolate Dream! The beach and pool: the pool is a little on the chilly side - August is in the Mauritian winter, after all - but it soon warms up once you're in; and for those of us who are used to swimming in English waters, the temperature is positively balmy! There were a couple of mornings where we struggled to get sun loungers around the pool because we were a bit late down, but we simply headed to the wonderful beach instead where there were loungers-a-plenty. The sea is very safe for children, with a sort of lagoon protected by the reef further out to sea, and the sand is lovely and soft and powdery - we all very much enjoyed our days swimming and playing here! The water sports: BEWARE. Fun as they are, we found on the glass bottom boat trip that the reef is sadly suffering ill effects from the sheer number of boat trips, dives, underwater walks, and snorkelers etc, etc, etc. In hindsight - and if we'd have had our sensible heads on at the time - we would have realised and avoided such an encounter. The kids club - we didn't really use this, as our two were having far too much fun in the pool, on the beach, searching for the 'Messages in a Bottle', and chatting with the staff. But we did have a little look around and it seemed like a fantastic place for children, with lots of activities and well trained staff. All in all, this is the best hotel we have EVER stayed at. If you're thinking of booking it - DO IT! We will be back!

Ideal

To describe this resort as incredible, amazing, or even fabulous would be an understatement. Me and my family went to this hotel based on recommendation from a close friend working in travel and although unsure at first due to rumours of rainy, cold weather in our summer months, we had no regrets. From the moment we arrived in the hotel, we were in awe of the immaculate condition and cleanliness of everything down from the plants outside, to the rooms, to the sand on the beach. Not to mention the kindness, efficiency and welcoming manner of every staff member we came across: nothing was too much trouble. The Family Suite suited us perfectly for a family of four, with more than enough space and although we had one or two minor issues with the room they were sorted out immediately and effortlessly. The facilities at Lux Belle Mare were incredible, with the one of the biggest pools in Mauritius and a gorgeous stretch of beach and sea. In addition, there were water sports included ranging from water skiing to paddle boarding to kayaking to pedalos and snorkelling. The staff at the boathouse were amazing and always willing to help you out. Whilst i was there, i decided to learn to water ski and after failing the first few times one of the members of staff: Chris got in the water with me and became one of my great holiday friends, not to mention, when Wesley, the driver of the boat took us out on a donut ride even though the they had parked up for the day! They really made our trip and I recommend heading down there for some fun because nothing is too much to ask from them. As well as being at the boathouse everyday, I also attempted the diving PADI course, with my dad, which consisted of a few pool sessions and some open water dives and it was fabulous. Our instructor Jason was a star and helped me so much to develop all the skills I needed it was so much fun and by the end I was a confident diver and had seen some amazing underwater life including the Mauritian Clown fish, a turtle and an Eagle Ray. I would definitely recommend the diving in Mauritius especially if you have older children and teens, as it is a great opportunity for them to learn to dive too. I cannot fault the food at this resort, as it was divine! None of us had a bad meal! The choice of restaurants for lunch and dinner was perfect with options for lunch including K bar (worldwide), food truck (gourmet), Beach Rouge (mediterranean) and dinner included Duck Laundry (Chinese), Amari (Indian), Mixe (international buffet, which also does breakfast) and Beach Rouge (mediterranean). We attended every restaurant at least once and they were all phenomenal, with their own unique atmosphere and food as well as brilliant service. Beach Rouge was located on the beach so was a gorgeous spot for lunch looking over the sea and we most enjoyed the focaccia and Caesar salad there. All of our meals were superb, but Beach Rouge lunches were a highlight, as well as the Mixe deserts; Duck laundry and Amari's staff, atmosphere and food were also terrific. As i have mentioned service at restaurants could not have been better with restaurant members remembering our room number and our allergies. In particular, Beelur ( Manager of Duck Laundry), who always remembered our allergies and made an effort of coming to our table and making sure everything was to our pleasing, was exceptional. In addition, the staff at Amari were also great when they made up a bed in the restaurant when the youngest member of the family was feeling tired. As well as everyone who i have already mentioned, Antoine the residential manager was splendid: always making sure we were ok and checking on us where we least expected it. In addition to him, small touches also made the resort such as message in a bottle, live music, a DJ and even LUX ice cream. It would not have been the same without these things. Overall, Lux Belle Mare was an incredible resort to stay in. I have nothing but positive comments to say about it and our experience there. To be negative about it would be putting a downer on the work everyone at that hotel does. I recommend this to anyone and everyone, as it is truly an unforgettable experience and made my family and I feel so special.
