Then, head out into the the city. Travel down the tree-lined avenues of the former French Concession, where plane trees arch over lanes and historic villas sit behind wrought iron gates.

Continue towards Fuxing Park, where locals gather to practice Tai Chi or play chess beneath the trees. Stop briefly at a street stall for a local snack.

After, ride on to a neighbourhood wet market, filled with the scent of fresh produce and spices. From here, slip into the narrow lilongs. Soak in the life and vibrancy as people go about their daily routines.
