Bangkok is Thailand’s lively capital city. It’s home to a wide range of attractions, from ancient temples to towering skyscrapers which house luxury hotels and trendy rooftop bars. It’s a fantastic place to get a sense of the country’s culture.
Spend your days exploring the city. A boat trip is a great way to see the impressive skyline from a different angle, and will also show you less visited neighbourhoods and pretty markets. Alternatively, book a trip to one of the city’s floating markets. You’ll be able to pick up local handicrafts, souvenirs and gifts as you float down the river and practise your haggling skills.
When it comes to dining, this multicultural city has something for everyone. Head to the street stalls in the markets and pick up local dishes as you dine with the locals. Or enjoy Michelin-starred restaurants on Bangkok’s many rooftops, serving exquisite dishes and a fusion of cuisines from around the world.
Chiang Mai can be found in Thailand’s luscious northern region. The area’s home to jungles and mountains and a fascinating culture. The city itself is lively and green, with a smattering of night markets, up market restaurants and boutiques.
You’ll find plenty of cultural temples to be discovered, as well as a relaxed atmosphere which makes the city a peaceful place for a holiday. More active visitors can head out into the region’s pretty landscapes. Try white water rafting or zip lining before visiting a local tribe. Learn more about their ancient customs and way of life, before watching them make handicrafts and trying it for yourself.
Jungle treks are a fantastic way to explore the luscious surroundings in Chiang Mai. Head up to a mountain village as you wind your way through towering trees, picking ripe bananas as a snack as you go. You can also learn to create your own Thai dishes with a local cooking class.
Krabi is located on the south east coast of Thailand and is known for its many beautiful beaches. You’ll find plenty of long stretches of white sands, perfect for relaxing days spent soaking up the sun, as well as crystal clear waters.
Take in the dramatic limestone karsts and steep cliffs which are peppered along Krabi’s coastline with a boat trip. You can book a traditional wooden long boat, or rent a kayak and explore the 200 islands and caves off the shore at your own pace. Alternatively, simply unwind on the beach with a cocktail in one hand and a book in the other.
Krabi is lapped by the gentle waves of a protected Marine National Park. This means you’ll find pristine sands and plenty of underwater life to be discovered with snorkelling or scuba diving trips. If you prefer to explore the interior landscapes, there are plenty of opportunities to try rock climbing. Or you could trek through the forests, discovering colourful birds and glistening waterfalls.
