Halifax
Arrive at Halifax airport from where you will be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle.
Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia is rich in history and maritime culture. A famous symbol of the coastal province is the white and red lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove. The picturesque Peggy’s Point Lighthouse stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Another well-known landmark is the Old Town Clock, which has watched over the city since 1803, when it was gifted by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. There is also the Halifax Citadel, a National Historic Site that was once a garrison for soldiers.
For a relaxing afternoon, stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens with its lawns, flower beds, ponds and fountains. End the day at the lively Halifax Waterfront with its historic sites, colourful sailboats and majestic vessels. Try any one of the trendy restaurants here for a great meal. Don’t miss exploring the city’s craft beer scene, especially brews from the historic Alexander Keith’s Brewery.
Group Tour of Halifax Highlights with Peggy’s Cove
Learn about the history of Nova Scotia and savour its natural beauty on this group experience. You will be picked up from your hotel and be driven through the pretty countryside to reach Peggy’s Cove. Here, find the iconic Peggy’s Point Lighthouse, dating back to 1868. After, head to Halifax Citadel National Historic Site on Citadel Hill, where re-enactors in period costume bring history to life. Learn about the daily lives of soldiers and their families in the late 19th century.
Explore the fort, located in downtown Halifax, from where you can view the harbour and the water.
Finally, drive through the city centre and pass Fairview Cemetery, the final resting place of more than a hundred victims of the RMS Titanic. Pier 21, the country’s last surviving seaport immigration facility, and the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market are also on the itinerary.
Group Tour of Annapolis Valley Wineries with Tastings
Discover the wineries in the Annapolis Valley during this delicious excursion. Head to the meeting point in Halifax at the appointed time. From there, drive to the fertile valley with its vineyards, orchards and farmland. There are around a dozen exclusive wineries here that are famed for their sparkling wines.
Visit three wineries to get a complete picture of the winemaking process. Gain insight into the different grape varieties grown in this cool-climate terroir. You will also be shown the equipment used to extract wine from the grapes and the techniques that create its distinctive flavour.
Taste the house wines at all three stops, and at one of the wineries have a lovely lunch before heading back.
Fogo Island
A private vehicle will take you from your hotel to Halifax airport. Board your two-hour flight to Gander, NL. At Gander Airport, a chauffeur from Fogo Island Inn will meet you. Enjoy a scenic and comfortable three-hour journey by car and ferry to your hotel.
Fogo Island is a secluded island in Iceberg Alley, located off the coast of Newfoundland. The cod-rich waters around the island attracted the first settlers in the mid-1700s, and their Irish and Elizabethan English heritage continues to shape the local culture.
Bogs and boreal forests provide a habitat for caribou and small wildlife, while the waters of the Atlantic Ocean draw whales and seabirds. The island’s subarctic landscape is dotted with footpaths and scenic viewpoints. Explore the excellent walking trails that pass over rolling hills and along rocky cliffs.
Art studios are spread across the island, and the Fogo Island Inn stands out as a fine example of the region’s distinctive architecture. You will also find museums and heritage properties that highlight the island’s unique history and culture.
Entertainment such as small shed parties take place throughout the year, while the celebratory Fogo Island Partridgeberry Harvest Festival and Féile Tilting take place annually.

As part of your stay at Fogo Island Inn, choose from a variety of guided, immersive land-based activities. Fogo Island has over 125 miles of historic scenic trails set against the maritime landscape. Start with a gentle walk around the inn and the nearby area. You could also hike to Brimstone Head or follow the Fogo Head Trail to watch icebergs drifting in the distance.
Meet a boat builder and see the traditional craft of hand-building wooden punts. You can also learn quilt-making, which uses colourful cotton patches and the herringbone stitch. Another option is to visit a root cellar and gain insight into ancient food preservation techniques.
Spend time in the island’s hills, bogs and marshes foraging for edible berries. You may spot caribou herds along the way. At night, head to the inn’s rooftop deck for stargazing and enjoy clear views of the night sky.
Gander
The chauffeur at Fogo Island Inn will pick you up and take you by ferry and car back to Gander Airport. This is a 3-hour journey.
Gander is a major Canadian Forces airbase located to the south of Gander Bay. Lying along the northern tip of Newfoundland, it serves as a gateway to Notre Dame Bay. The town is especially popular with aviation aficionados as it is home to one of the world’s largest airports. The airport dates back to World War II when it functioned as a major refueling station for all transatlantic flights.
There is also the North Atlantic Aviation Museum which showcases heritage artifacts and aviation models. You could also visit the Gander Heritage Memorial Park with its Canadian military and WWII monuments, and the town’s Commonwealth War Graves.
