Dubai – Things to do

Dubai Attractions

Dubai is the emirate that clinches all the headlines, steals all the scenes, and cleans up at every award show. About as far from a shrinking violet as it gets, this show-off of a city churns out world-famous structures – like the towering Burj Khalifa and man-made mega-island of Atlantis The Palm – in the blink of an eye. Add to that a year-round sunshine record and swathes of golden sand, and it’s no wonder this is the fourth most-visited city on the planet.

For some, shopping is the biggest draw of a holiday in Dubai – and the spectacular mega malls are by no way limited to shops. Dubai Mall, one of the biggest retail centres in the world, contains 1,200 stores, including Gucci and Louis Vuitton. You’ll also find a theme park, a 22-screen cinema and an aquarium. Mall of the Emirates has 520 stores and 85 eateries, plus its own artificial mountain, Ski Dubai.

Explore Dubai's cultural heritage

It’s not just about the luxury hotels and jaw dropping architecture – Dubai does history and culture brilliantly too. Visit Gold Souq or a bazaar and get your haggle on to grab a bargain on souvenir textiles. Admire incredible Islamic art – including Arabic calligraphy – or take a glimpse into Emirati traditions such as falconry and camel racing. At Al Fahidi, Dubai’s oldest building, you can learn about local history and cultural heritage at a museum.
