Udaipur City Palace - India

Breathtaking views over Lake Pichola

In the City palace, the most captivating sight can be viewed from the towers and terraces of 'Amar Vilas' from where you can get a breathtaking view of Lake Pichola.

Located in Udaipur, the City Palace is a marvellous fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles built on a hill top overlooking the city.

The palace was built by the Maharana Udai Singh as the capital of the Sisodia Rajput clan in 1559 and it later became a conglomeration of different structures, including 11 smaller, separate palaces. Today, the main part of the palace is open as the City Palace Museum with extravagently decorated rooms laced in mirrors, tiles and beautiful paintings and well as a large collection of artefacts. A pretty central garden offers views over the city, while the southern end of the museum is home to a picture gallery that shows several royal hunting portraits.
