Nice reception and rooms but needs a big update to the swimming pool

Zug, Switzerland

We stayed at the Melia from the 14-16 April and again on 17 April. When we entered the hotel it looked great and we checked into our room and it looked amazing. The staff were also extremely kind to let us have an earlier check in by 1 hour. When we went to the pool it looked very outdated and there were no showers and we had to use the spa later. When we went to the spa for a shower there were bath amenities but just a simple shower gel in an old box. When we asked for shampoo and conditioner they said that’s it’s bath, shower gel and conditioner in one. We also were asked to leave the wet towels before we went to our room and were ok with us being dripping wet in the elevator. We also used the public washrooms near the reception a while ago and it looked outdated as well. The worst part was we bought a couple of gifts at the gift store and there was no boxes to pack them in but just old cardboard boxes that were too big or the Melia bag. Staff is good, location is great but needs a lot of improvements as it’s a bit outdated and need to look at their customer service at the pool, spas. The gift shop of course needs to stock their items as they are gifts

Holiday

Stayed at the Melia, a very lovely hotel. Service was polite, fast, very helpful, staff could not do enough to help you. Rooms were clean, beautifully stocked. Hotel was close to a variety of restaurants, the beautiful lake and a variety of shops. Happy hour was lovely with a band playing in the background.
