Great View

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

We stayed in one of the little individual houses located a short drive from the main lodge. It was modern, comfortable and had a great view of Monument Valley from the porch. The compound has everything you need grocery store, gas station, heated indoor pool, snack bar, restaurant, gift shop and museum. Having just come from the Zion NP area I was impressed with the reasonable prices in the grocery store.

Goulding's Campground

North Carolina

We made advance reservations for Goulding's Campground, thankfully for just one night. The picture of the tent sites looked great, but upon arrival we found that our site was so tiny that it would not accommodate our three tiny, one person tents (I had noted we had three tiny tents when I made the reservation). I also could not even figure out where our site started and ended because they were crammed so close together, and yet this is the most expensive campsite I've ever paid for. We were on a thin paved road with tent "sites" on one side and looking at the huge RV's in front of us (also crammed into their slots). We got two of the three tents up and I ended up sleeping in the back of the truck because there was not room for a third tent. I suppose if you're just looking for a place to sleep then this is okay, but I do not consider this camping - this is human storage. I intended to take pictures but we left in a hurry the next morning just to get away from this place. The only positive things I can say for the place is that they do have great showers and some beautiful views of Monument Valley, but that's it. I'm not hard to please, and this is only the second campground I've been to that I know I'll never stay in again. Next time I'm in the area I will go camp in Bluff, Utah.
