USA Rail Holidays

The USA is so vast and diverse, a rail holiday is one of the best ways to see many of its  iconic cities and extraordinary landscapes in ease - particularly if you don’t fancy hiring a car and driving yourself. Mirroring the diversity of the country, the train journeys wind through icy glaciers and snow-tipped mountain peaks; along golden coastal shores and glittering lakes; and stop at some of the USA’s most vibrant cities and historic landmarks.

All aboard a discovery of the USA

Trains in the USA are operated by Amtrak, with lines covering 46 states and 500 destinations, as well as border-crossings to Canada. Board a train from New York or Boston in the East, and you can be in San Francisco or LA on the West Coast in just three nights. One of the most beautiful train journeys in North America, the California zephyr is a popular rail holiday.

For a different kind of rail adventure, why not stay next door to a train depot and then journey into the Grand Canyon? Spend a few nights at the authentic Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, before riding the restored rail cars deep into the spectacular surroundings of Grand Canyon National Park. Lose yourself in the sheer immensity and magnificence of one of the world’s seven natural wonders.
