Most Comfortable Bed

Stayed here while attending a wedding in nearby LSU Agricultural park, I was so impreesed with the comfort of the bed that I took the sheet off to see the manufacturer (Beautyrest). They added a cushioned matress padding which added to the comfort. Needless to say, I got a great nights sleep. Parking was quite convenient. The restaurant food was very good. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

Falsely advertised as a 4 star hotel - not up Marriott standards that’s for sure

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

We are Titanium members and have stayed at Marriotts in many parts of the world. We picked the Renaissance in Baton Rouge to stay at based on pictures on the website and for the pool and knowing and expecting the same quality we have become accustomed to with other Marriotts family hotels. We arrived and were offered no room upgrade and to find that the room was very old and dated, and a dirty stained gold couch that doesn’t even face the TV. The glass coffee table has deep soils of black and dirt in the grooves, the carpet is stained and has not been vacuumed and frayed at all edges to the entrance and bathroom, we found candles between the couch when we separated it to angle it to watch TV, there is no ventilation in the bathroom and the door is not secure and smells escape, the dressers are stained, the door to open to get to the fridge has food stuck on it, the lamp on desk is bent, the furniture is all very dated and tired (must be back to 40 years old), no floor to ceiling windows, just walls and higher windows, the pool was not open and dirty and unkept at best. We asked the front desk first how to access it and was told it’s down the hall, so we proceeded to go down the hall, every door accessing the pool was locked and no key access, (visibly it was not swept up and was in kept looking,)so we went back and asked again how to access the pool and if it was closed, the two front desk clerks talked to each other ignored us and finally addressed us and said it’s down the hall. Now we are not complete idiots and knew full well where it was and if it were unlocked we would not be standing in front of them again. No no one walked down the hall to look at it or access it, no one said they would look into it and call us. The phone in the bedroom had no back on it and no batteries and not working; There is no pen or pad of paper in the room to be found, only 1 robe which looks like it’s about 20 years old, the toilet seat is tilted to one side so when you sit on it you find yourself on an angle, and the new Bonvoy internet is not seamless even though we have been Marriott members for 20 years, we had to go log in to Marriottt before it would recognize member to get internet, even though have stayed at Marriotts the last month with no issues. We we’re extremely frustrated to have booked this hotel online as we have dont many many times over the past 20 years only to fond that an advertised 4 star hotel was not even close to such standards. We’ve stayed at courtyards w That had cleaner rooms, clean pools, professional staff, and at the very least 3 pillows and paper and pen. We haven’t tried to make coffee yet or have a shower so it may be interesting but at this rate would not be surprised at anything we encounter. This should not be falsely advertised as a 4 star hotel and the pictures should clearly show the quality of room you are getting. We never would have booked this room only to be extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with a room that we paid for and could not cancel. We definitely regret not staying at a Hilton hotel. We felt we could rely on Marriotts good name but this experience definitely proved us wrong. Will go back to Hilton’s for points and consistency of quality. Marriott should not allow this hotel to carry and mar its, what we thought, was a good name.
