Rib Room is outstanding; the rest of the experience was so-so

I stayed at the Omni for three nights, early this week. First, the hotel has a beautiful (busy) lobby. The doormen and bellman are beyond friendly. The Rib Room's jazz brunch is also fantastic. However my experience there was, overall, disappointing. First, I requested early check-in, but the hotel told me it wasn't possible because they had a wedding the previous night and so there were a lot of late checkouts. That was not a big deal. I had brunch at the Rib Room, which was great, except that, when I asked the bartender for change for a $20 so that I could tip the jazz trio, she told me that they "didn't do that." Okay. One small issue. Then, the room was at the end of the hall, overlooking construction, which started every day at 7 a.m., which meant no sleeping in. I would have appreciated being told about the construction so I could have had the option to change my room. I was in a Jacuzzi king room, which was small and would have been fine, except that the tub did not seem to be well-maintained. Essentially, everything looked like it needs a renovation. However, I will say that the bed was extremely comfortable, and the pillows were fantastic. The roof deck and pool looked nice, but it was a little too chilly outside to use them very much. I received a small carafe of free coffee in the morning, as well as the free wifi, because I am an Omni Select member, and that was appreciated. The hotel just seemed as though it was missing amenities that many other business hotels offer, such as a lounge with free coffee and newspapers and snacks. I would place it in the category of a 3-star hotel. However, I would recommend visiting the very knowledgeable concierge.

great location

Worcester, United States

Really enjoyed this hotel. The location is great for walking right in the French Quarter. Service was excellent and very courteous. The hotel is old well preserved and charming, just beautiful. The only limitation is that there are very limited plugs to charge devices.
