Good location and fabulous staff! Short on amenities.

Athens, Texas

We chose this hotel because of the location and the architecture looked interesting. I would describe it as an upscale boutique hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was almost as large as the bedroom and nicely appointed. However, this hotel is short on amenities considering the price. There are no ice machines (which even large upscale hotels usually have available) and if you want ice, you have to call the desk which will send some up, but this is a hassle and once we waited almost an hour for the ice to arrive and had to make a second request. There is no room service available. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel lobby, so it seems a "no brainer" to have at least a breakfast room service menu or breakfast available in the restaurant. Coffee, hot water and tea bags and fruit are available downstairs in the mornings. Nothing else. The coffee was hot and full bodied. Housekeeping was mediocre. We came back one day from sightseeing and while the bed was made, dirty glasses had not even been moved, the room was not vacuumed the entire three nights we were there (the black carpet is very tell-tale). The best thing about this hotel was the staff...front desk was extremely helpful as was the doorman/bell hop/ice deliverer. Yes, the young man did all of these tasks and was constantly running but had such a lovely attitude. The bar off the lobby looked nice but we did not get drinks there because it was so loud. The music was way too loud for conversation. Would I stay there again? Maybe. For the location and staff and comfort of the room itself(with the exception of housekeeping).

Nice facility

We met 3 other couples in NOLA to celebrate a birthday. Nice hotel within walking distance of Frenchman and Bourbon Sts (about 1 mi). Felt safe in the location. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice room w comfortable bed and enough counter space in bathroom for our travel items. Nice towels. Room not really big but very adequate as we only were there to sleep. Had a small frig. No coffee pot or microwave. Do have a restaurant and a bar on premise. We didn’t use them so I can’t rate but looked very nice. Would use again.
