Poor customer service and terrible experience

Lubbock, Texas

Extremely disappointed with the experience and customer service overall by the front staff and management staff during our stay on 5/21/2018 at Crowne Plaza in New Orleans. Hotel was pre-booked and advanced purchased on 5/3/2018. Arrived for check-in approximately around 415-430ish. Was informed by front staff employee, Antonietta (staff member with red hair), that currently there were no rooms available and would not be for a while. Our check-in was at 4pm. Was asked if we would be okay with a double queen bed room, politely declined and wanted room that reservation was made and paid for. Staff member gave us keys to a dirty room and said room would be cleaned and ready in 30 minutes and would call us immediately when available, contact number was confirmed. Politely asked while we waited if we would be receiving any vouchers for food/bar. Staff member laughed and said, "you would be better off going and getting a hand grenade". Received keys to the dirty room and went to check luggage while we waited. No one was at bell-hop desk but we were greeted by nicely dressed staff member who told us he would help as much as he could. Asked again if we could receive a voucher for drinks/food while we waited. The gentleman told us all he could offer was a free plastic cup. After waiting for 3 hours for a phone call about room, approached front staff again this time speaking with manager, Shamika. Her response to us asking about room was that unfortunately they were busy, and a room was not available. We proceeded to let her know we had already received keys to a dirty room and that we had been waiting 3 hours for a phone call when told it would be 30 minutes. Staff member that had originally helped us chimed in and said "oh, you must have been who we were trying to contact and gave us the wrong number". Again, contact information was confirmed prior. The manager informed us we should not have been given keys to a dirty room, and then turned to staff member and mumbled "I am going to kill you for this". Among checking the system, the manager let us know the room had been ready. I was confused as to why we were not contacted or if we were ever going to be contacted. Upon arrival to the room, we observed trash (dirty dishes and straws) in front of the door. Was concerned we were either going to walk into a dirty room or another guest's room. Room was cleaned; however, it was 80 degrees upon arriving. We proceeded to go back to manager to let her know how unacceptable this was that we received poor communication, trash not picked up and room beyond hot. Manager's first response was if we just wanted to check out. After further discussion, manager offered to compensate the full price paid for hotel room and to send someone up to clean up trash. An agreement was made but no documentation was provided. Also, trash sat in front of our room the whole night and previous morning. Pictures can be provided if needed. The following morning before checkout we checked in with front staff just to receive documentation of agreement of compensation. The same manager was present and again we reminded her of our situation and politely asked for documentation before we proceeded to check out. She had let us know she discussed with night manager and that they could not offer a full return any longer and could only offer $50 compensation. This decision was never communicated or discussed with us and who knows if it would have been if we didn't return to receive documentation. Asked to speak with other manager that made this decision and was told they were not available. Was not given any method of how I would receive this compensation and staff said, "sorry but this is all we can do because room was purchased in advanced". We politely asked for contact information of all staff members that we had encountered and proceeded to check out. To say the least, we were beyond disappointed with our visit to the Crowne Plaza in New Orleans and will never be staying there again. New Orleans has always been the highlight of our vacation and this experience ruined it for us. The fact that little to no effort was made to make things right made it very evident that customer service is the least priority for these staff members.

Perfect location

Louisville, Kentucky

LOVED our stay here! We had a large group and they were very welcoming. A very nice and well decorated place. Can’t beat the location if you’re wanting to stay in walking distance of Bourbon Street. Nice workers and a nice place.
