Great Hotel. Awesome location, décor, cleanliness, service etc.. Just stayed on a quick overnight with my son and was very impressed. Would be a nice place for a weekend with my wife. Would like to try some of Birmingham's highly touted restaurants.

My stay at the Grand Bohemian

Although this is suppose to be a high end hotel is it quite the opposite. I have gotten better service at a lot less expensive hotel. I am compelled to point out issues with my stay. I.e., there is no parking other than the $25 valet parking. The public parking on the street (which was full) is available to any business in the area and the general public, botanical garden visitors, etc., and not exclusive to the hotel and therefore you are more or less forced to pay $25 parking while staying at this hotel. Most importantly, is the fact that a room of this price does not have a table in the room in which to eat when ordering room service. We ordered breakfast and had to sit the plates and utensils in our lap while eating. Most every hotel that I have stayed at has a table in the room. They did however have a desk with one chair. The beverages also came in a plastic disposable cup which is also distasteful at a hotel of this supposed caliber. One night at this establishment with a meal was around $673.00, this is simply not within the realm of reasonableness. On the other hand the dinner we had in the restaurant at the hotel was excellent. But in my opinion this hotel does not go out of its way with little extras to insure its guest with return for another stay. I have been treated better at much less expensive hotels.
