Stunning views, but resort needs MAJOR renovations before we go back

My wife and I came for a romantic getaway, but we were disappointed relative to what the rates were and what the amenities were. Amazing views from the deck and a beautiful hotel on the exterior, although I found it a bit irritating that our room did not have a legitimate air conditioner. I could not imagine coming back to a boiling hot hotel room in the middle of summer when paying $1,300 a night. For that kind of money I would expect my room to have air conditioning. Also, the rooms were just not that nice relative to the rates. Dysfunctional drawers that rubbed on the carpet, shades in the bathroom forced us to reach over the bathtub to adjust, etc. Other Aman resorts have much nicer rooms. The pool area is amazing! That was our favorite part. Overall a sub par Aman property relative to the rates, but the views are stunning.

Once and Only Once

Richmond, Virginia

We stayed here with friends who had recommended this property. Actually, after seeing the rate, I questioned my judgment but decided that maybe once it would be fun to stay in a high end exclusive place. Amangani is not that place. While the decor is interesting, it is now worn as are the room furnishings. I was interested to find there were no gratuities until I learned I was paying a flat charge of $118 per day for gratuities. The food was OK but not memorable. The people were nice and tried to be helpful. The views were as advertised. The bottom line is that I was crazy to stay here at the rates charged. It is well over priced and not worth half of the cost. I have stayed in hotels all over the world that were twice as good at half the cost. I would not recommend you waste your money.
