Just okay

Stayed here for a business conference. Bed was very hard. Upon closer inspection, we saw it was sitting on a plywood box someone made. Air conditioner old and loud and didn’t work very well. Mini blinds and lamps covered in dust. The worst part is the hotel has a big open foyer and rooms are up a staircase. They play country music 24/7...really loudly. Garth Brooks was singing through the door at all hours of the night. Finally got some pillows, laid them in front of the door and turned the bathroom fan on and it helped. Ridiculous. Food was average. Coffee was terrible. Customer service was good though.

Fabulous Experience there is a but!

North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

I had booked and pre paid a package here. This was all inclusive and included Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. Also was two trail rides, and an activity each day. We arrived and were allocated Cabin 16. The cabin was amazing and was lovely and warm, the heating was very responsive and there was a small gas ‘real fire’ which added atmosphere to the cabin. Cabin was spacious, clean and had everything you would expect. Wi-fi was excellent. The views from the cabin were out of this world. We had great fun on the trail rides with Sean who was really good and patient as we hadn’t ridden before. We also experienced the ranch tour and skeet shooting. All really great fun but if you didn’t pay as part of the package it could be quite expensive with the horse rides coming in at $100 per person. I had wanted a massage but the Ranch would have needed to call in someone as they don’t employ the masseuse. We used the hot tub which was amazing with great views. We didn’t use the pool as it was very cold on our visit. Now the but. The breakfast for me was fine with fresh strawberries and blueberries each day. The hot food was disappointing though and on the second day we asked for eggs as the bacon and biscuit were dried out. I believe we were one if two couples staying at the ranch and felt a little more customer care was required. Eggs were cooked when we arrived on day 3. The lunch was fine and left in the fridge in the cabin - sandwich, crisps, apple and banana with a bottle of water. Now the big but. Dinner is served in a separate building which we understand was run by someone other than the Ranch until two weeks ago. The first night was an absolute disaster. I ordered a margarita - the staff didn’t know how to make it and there was much fuss to find a blender and then the server couldn’t work it. I eventually got my drink. I ordered the pasta pesto and my husband ordered a steak with ranch salad and loaded potato. My pasta came with a cheese sauce which wasn’t on the menu and my husband’s salad arrived first although he had asked for it with his food. When his steak arrived it was without the potato. The waitress did go back and get it. When she returned with this she told us she had lost her ear ring and asked was it in his salad! I sent my pasta back and it was replaced and I received additional prawns as compensation. The second night was a little better and the salmon was delicious. The last night we got to the bar to find the girl behind the bar who was a really lovely person and had been our server the previous evening had been left behind the bar without any training and she was really anxious. We both got our drinks after looking up the ingredients on line! We both had the ribs which were delicious. The meal went off without a hitch. The staff are very willing and helpful with perhaps the exception of the older lady who didn’t listen and spent most of the second night on her phone. However they seem to lack training and support. You cannot fault the food but it is expensive and with this in mind you would expect good if not excellent customer service. All that said we had a great time and amazing experience but the catering lets it down.
