Mixed bag

Belfast, United Kingdom

Stayed 7 nights while attending a conference. Check-in was fast and efficient. Room was great. Comfortable bed, great TV, lots of storage. Room was well laid out. Plenty of sockets, though no dedicated USB sockets which can be a pain. Bathroom was excellent, great lighting and super shower. No shower gel, just a bar of soap, so had to buy my own toiletries. Pet hate that hotels don't let customer choose shower gel. Dining was main weakness. Went for breakfast twice and boy it's slow. Both times restaurant pretty empty. Had to wait to be seated, then had to wait 10 mins for server to take order, only parts of order arrived. When food did come it was tasty, but probably not worth the wait. If you're planning on breakfast you need to budget an hour, which is too leisurely on a work day. And again place was by no means busy. After 7 night stay I requested a late checkout...2pm as I had an evening flight. Reception offered me 30 mins extra free or chargeable 35 bucks for an extra 2 hours. I declined on principle, having just sunk over $1500 with the hotel. Seemed particularly cheap and short sighted, their attempt to grab $35 from me means I simply will stay elsewhere in Seattle. So great location, great room, avoid the restaurant, there's loads of good eating options elsewhere. And they'll gouge you on the late checkout.

Exceeded expectations

Grants Pass, Oregon

Excellent view, top notch amenities, and a perfect location all contribute to my experience. I stayed in one of the Emerald Suites which was very nice for the price. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a Starbucks and small store with food and beer on the ground level as well as a nice steakhouse. I would definitely recommend the steaks there, well worth the money.
