Iconic art deco hotel

Having just turned 80 years young, the New Yorker hotel has played host to plenty of big names over the years, cementing its place as one of New York's most iconic properties. The striking art deco building is an attraction in its own right and the stylish lobby and comfortable rooms only confirm what a great choice of hotel this is. Shopaholics will adore being so close to Macy's, and the Empire State building and Times Square are within easy walking distance. Make sure you stop by the lively Tick Tock 24 hour diner at least once during your stay for an authentic all American experience!

A wonderful visit, blackout and all!

Nashville

For our first real visit to NYC, we opted to stay at the New Yorker as Wyndham points holders. We were very impressed! The Executive double room was spacious, comfortable (with central air) and had a lovely view of Madison Square Garden. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was especially small, although there was plenty of room in the shower and the remodel of these rooms make everything very new and modern. The wifi allows for plenty of connections, and is super fast and easy to connect to. There is a Keurig coffee maker in these rooms, and a CVS across the street, so getting K cups and creamer was super easy. There is also a nice cold mini-fridge and an excellent insulated ice bucket. I'm not sure it can get much better for location. Penn Station subway station is right across the street, and from there, it's possible to catch any number of trains, including the New Jersey transit trains to and from Newark Airport. The A/C/E is the easiest to access with stairways on each side of 8th Ave., but one extra block to Penn provides access to almost every other line you might need from that location. It's confusing at first, but it gets easier! We highly recommend both the Tick Tock Diner and Trattoria Bianca downstairs off the lobby. Tick Tock was breakfast heaven and Trattoria was delicious! Our waiter even had the chef make some off-the-menu Alfredo for our teens who were really craving it. The best part was the night of the blackout. We happened to be attending one of the few shows that was still on that night, so we missed most of the blackout. The power came back as we were crossing the street toward the hotel entrance. We had to use the stairs (thankfully only to the 8th floor!) and by the time we got into the room it was already cooling. After about 5 minutes, the cable TV was back, and after a half hour, so was the wifi...it was as if it never happened, except for the lack of elevator access, and that limit was simply a safety issue. The staff here were super helpful and friendly, and housekeeping was PERFECT every time. I really enjoyed my stay and I look forward to repeating the visit soon!

Classic NY Hotel

This is a classic old NY hotel that is great if you need to be close to Madison Square Gardens or Penn Station. Otherwise, there is not much around. If you are in NY to see Broadway shows, you're better off at a hotel closer to the Theater District.
