An incredible landmark hotel minutes from Central park

Built as a companion to the renowned Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, this exquisite Beaux Arts hotel was the tallest hotel in the city at the time of construction and continues to offer the ultra-luxury concept that guests could enjoy back in 1904. The Bloody Mary was developed here; Salvador Dali and John Lennon have been guests and the dramatic newly-renovated interior opens a whole new luxury hotel experience for guests of today. From sophisticated Uptown cuisine to the convenience of the state-of-the-art fitness centre, this dazzling hotel is as important today as it was 100 years ago.

Sorry, didn't love it

The decoration of this property is definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone. We honestly found it quite horrendous and disliked the cold light from the chandeliers. We stayed three nights in a Deluxe suite, which was a very spacious and functional room, which are some of our top priorities. The service was excellent and the location is very convenient, I just don’t like the way that the staff is ‘hiding’ between the odd old screens on the reception counter. Breakfast was OK, not great. We really enjoyed the gym with a great view and new high-end equipment. Our main problem with this property is traffic noise, which definitely was more noticeable compared to other New York hotels we have stayed in. Perhaps due to the age of the building and the rather flimsy window frames. We enjoyed our stay but will probably not return.

Would certainly consider to visit again...

Antwerp, Belgium

Mostly perfect with some minor flaws. We've booked an Astor suite and got upgraded to a deluxe suite after some issues at check-in. The corner suite was certainly spacious but with no particular views (we preferrerd the Langhan for views). We've certainly appreciated the double bathroom. We stayed for 8 nights and were able to appreciate the butler service and the concierges.
