Bonehead Night Manager and Head of Security

San Rafael, California

Noise next door. Tone deaf Night Manager and Head of Security offered to move us instead of the people making the noise. Took three phone calls to get someone to address the noise. We were never told about

Good Location, but too many negatives.

Toronto, Canada

The only good thing is the location. Negatives included: - they charge an "Urban Destination Fee" of $25 per room, per night. Included are wifi (which you get anyway if you're part of the Hilton Club), $10/night cafe credit, $15/night bar credit. Everything at the bar/cafe was ridiculously expensive, so a water and a kit kat cost you $10 and then you're credit is gone - so the pretense is that they're crediting the cost of the resort fee back to you, but when all the prices are inflated, you're not really getting anything. A Duane Reade is across the street, where prices were 1/5th of what they were at the Hilton. It also doesn't cover storing your luggage at the end of your stay if you're leaving later, which was frustrating as well, so you're paying $5 per bag. - worn, tired room. Dents everywhere, headboard peeling, mold in the bathroom - towels were very rough and smelled like they were burned - we stayed in a terrible room, between the service elevator and service room (which meant we were woken up by yelling and talking every morning) - we would get phone calls early in the morning and when we picked up, no one would answer. We later found out it was housekeeping seeing if you were in your room, so they could clean it. We did have a "Do Not Disturb" placard on our door. - we're Hilton Gold members and are supposed to be provided with an upgrade -- they didn't upgrade us because they said there was no rooms available. We checked with their reservations department who said there were rooms available that we should've been upgraded too, but they couldn't offer it us. We spoke to front desk who weren't very helpful. All in all, the stay wasn't worth it -- unhelpful staff, overpriced amenities, and the room was terribly worn out. It felt like we were being nickel & dime'd for everything. We travel to NYC every few weeks, so we've stayed in plenty of hotels. Since we were Hilton Gold Members we decided to try the Hilton, which wasn't a good experience. I would suggest the Sheraton down the street, or the Quinn/London NYC which are only less than a 5 minute walk away.
