Sensational New Year

Cape Town

Had an awesome meal in the hotel to start - then went up to the ballroom for New Years' Eve Party (2 from South Africa and 2 from London). What an awesome experience - at 69 years old I can say hand on heart was the best New Year Party hubby and I have been to. With all the entertainment, the band, the accessories and the fireworks (and of course the fantastic staff and the wonderful and welcoming people of USA - it was a night to remember....

Nice if you’ve got the money

Falls Church, Virginia

First class, no doubt about it. Nicely located at Columbus Circle near our target, the Lincoln Center. “Paid” with airplane miles, otherwise out of my league price-wise. Room was impeccable but I was surprised there was no coffee maker or hot water appliance. Based on prior reviews, I asked about the price of WiFi, and the desk person comped it (gave it to us free) immediately and without discussion. View is fabulous, as noted. Unasked, they gave us the Central Park view, which surprised but pleased me. We liked the connection to the mall, especially since it was super cold outside. Perhaps feeling the need for a plebeian experience after the breathtaking cost of the hotel, we had breakfast at the Whole Foods in the basement of the mall - served the need perfectly. Pool was out of order during our stay due to frozen pipes. We were disappointed with that, but these things happen. Steam room and hot tub were both comfortably warm at around 100 degrees F, but another degree or two warmer would have been better. Turning on the TV set as part of the evening turn-down service is a bad idea. I would have much preferred to walk quietly into their lovely room rather than have to fumble around to find the TV remote and turn the stupid thing off.
