Great rooms and location.

Chicago

You won't believe the size of the suites in this hotel. By New York standards they're gigantic; with a huge living/lounge area, a nice size bedroom, separate walk-in closet that leads to a large bathroom with two showers. The whole property is very well-appointed although is starting to show some signs of wear and tear. Had limited interaction with staff, but all were nice enough. The food and bev in this place is as obscene as their suites are large. I was dining solo and a simple room service dinner with two large bottles of water ran me $100 with tip. Breakfast with a colleague consisting of two bowls of oatmeal, a side of eggs, and a couple cups of coffee was another $100. One round of late night drinks for 4 was another $100. None of the food was worth writing home about, and certainly not worth that price unless you're truly desperate. There are about 100 places to grab a bite within a block of here, so you have to really want to avoid leaving the hotel to put up with those kinds of prices on so-so food and drink. I'll be back for the room size and solid Mid-Town location, but that's about it.

What is this place?!

I'm not quite sure why anyone would stay here twice. The lobby is small and lacking any design sense whatsoever. The decor is unmemorable, and if there's more than two people in line for check-in, they are virtually standing in the doorway. The hallways leading to the rooms are quite dark and dismal. The decor in the rooms is a haphazard mishmosh of 90's modern and Pier 1 Imports. My room looked like it hadn't been updated in a long time...the furniture was very worn, like Motel 6 worn...it was a little hard to believe that they don't replace individual pieces of furniture in such bad condition. The white tiles on the bathroom floor are stained around the toilet and shower pan from bodily fluids and grime. After recently staying at the wonderful Conrad hotel downtown, I don't understand the branding...this place is more like a Doubletree.
