Superb location, now under dining room renovations

Israel

This is a suite hotel, from Conrad (Hilton). Not cheap but location is superb (on relatively quiet) 54th street between the 6th and 7th Aves- just 5 streets below the Central Park. Within walking distance to all mid-town attractions including broadway shows and the park. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the add-on charges on any in-room dining order. Lobby is (relatively) small. Concierge was helpful. No business center per se and no swimming pool. There is a gym though on the 4th floor. Rooms were clean and taken care of quite well.

Wonderful suite renovation but still not ready for prime time! Ongoing renovations!

Baltimore

I so want to love The London NYC (Conrad Midtown) but sadly I don't think that will happen until they finish the renovation 100%! For some perspective, I stayed there in the past and liked my stay but they definitely needed to renovate the suites. Now that the suites are renovated I decided to try the hotel again. The good: - They did a very nice job in renovating the suites - Staff we interacted with were all very friendly and definitely trying to make the ongoing renovation issues bearable for guests The not so good: - The restaurant is still not open. They allow access to the restaurant to use the restrooms back in the area but clearly there is a holdup on them getting it up and running. Personally I thought the decor looked like a cafeteria instead of a high-end hotel restaurant. - Since the restaurant is closed, you have to order any food via room service. Problem was that room service took a very long time! On both days we waited close to an hour for breakfast to arrive. On the weekends this might not be a big deal since people are in no rush but during the week this clearly could be an issue. - The biggest unexpected issue for us was that the water in the shower kept turning off during our showers. Basically the water pressure would slowly go down and then totally stop. It would come back on slowly in maybe 30-60 seconds or so but this happened during every shower we took. Manager sent up a technician but he seemed perplexed in what to do since the water comes from a main line. - Elevators are being renovated as well so capacity is impacted. When we were there a total of 4 of the 7 elevators were working. (Recommendation.....ask for a room on the 25th floor since both elevator banks stop on that floor! So in summation....renovation issues continue even though they should have been finished by now and they don't seem to know when they will be done. I knew the restaurant was going to possibly still be closed when I booked so I can live with that. The elevators are clearly and issue for some based on reviews already posted. The water issues were annoying and not expected. Once the renovations are done and the staff can really focus on other things I think this hotel could really shine. I really like the suite decor and the size of the suites and that would likely have us coming back but they really need to get passed all the other issues ASAP.
