Great Location, Service Can Be Better

Boston, MA

Just checked into a junior suite last night with my family (2 adults and 2 young kids) for a long weekend . All in all, a mixed bag. The hotel had some pluses and some minuses . I wasn’t wowed by it but there’s potential .... Pros: -Location ! Next to Carnegie Hall, 2 blocks from Central Park and tons of restaurants nearby . This is my preferred location to stay in NYC. -The room is nicely appointed and spacious (about 500 sq ft). -Check in & housekeeping staff were great . Cons: -Parking was a mess . There was no spot to pull over in front of the hotel to unload or valet . -Hotel caters to the young & hip crowd . It is not family friendly. There’s no bathtub for little kids to take baths. Although the continental breakfast was good , the Waitstaff in Knave (for Breakfast) has zero tolerance for children in their presence . They were so openly intolerant that it was strange. -The noise level . It appears that the windows in the rooms are not very sound proof . My room was facing 56th St and there is a construction site across the street . All I hear were pounding and drilling during the day and police sirens and beeping cars at night . It was just annoying during my entire stay .

Not sure yet.

We checked in today. Had an issue with the breakfast deal coupons, but this was fixed rather quickly. It just required manager’s approval. The room is typical size for the NYC but could have gotten a much larger suite at a Kimpton for less money. I was unimpressed with the room as it doesn’t really fit the hotel at all... it is older, and damaged...missing drawer pulls, silly putty on Lamp shade, damaged desk that was patched poorly, the edges of room are not vacuumed at all, everything is a bit tattered. Especially for $515/night or more. Well so much for day 1. See all pictures below for proof.
