My Favorite Hotel

Everything about the Kimberly is close to perfect, from the courteous, friendly, and efficient staff to the accommodations, location, and price, which is very reasonable for such luxury. I arrived almost five hours early and was willing to wait, but was checked in immediately with no problem. The woman at the front desk greeted me as though I was an old friend, and said, "Welcome back," even though my last stay was nine years ago. I can't praise this place enough, but I hope it doesn't become so popular that there's no room for me next time I go to New York. (And, the bar on the roof makes the best Manhattans I've ever had!) I wish I could give it ten stars.

Fantastic hotel for a family with teenagers

Ascot, United Kingdom

We chose The Kimberley because of the size of the rooms and it was absolutely the right decision. It's not a cool hotel or a cool location, but it does make staying in the city with two teenagers for 5 nights a pleasure. We had two (small) double beds and a sofa bed in the lounge so our kids had their own beds - our suite was bigger than most Manhattan apartments. Super friendly reception staff and doormen, very clean and quiet. The midtown location means that you can walk to many of the touristy destinations - it was perfect for us. The only advice I would give is not to eat at the hotel. We had breakfast upstairs one day as a treat, our most expensive breakfast of our visit by a long way. Standard buffet, only eggs (over) cooked to order, dirty tables, nothing special at all. Go to John's Coffee Shop on 44th and 2nd instead.
