Ink 48 - a Kimpton Hotel

This hotel is by far the nicest hotel stay we had in New York. It’s newly renovated, very clean and modern, yet charming. It has a boutique vibe and a personal touch you don’t get in the big hotels. Truly happy we had chosen to stay at Kimpton Ink48 for our 1-year wedding annivarsary. Our flight got cancelled and we ended up getting there two days later than planned, but they changed our reservation and was very accommodating and serviceminded! They also surprised us a sparkling wine and strawberries. The room service food from Print restaurant was very good, and we feel that we have found a new retreat in New York. Far enough away from the main tourist drag, but close to all the restaurant in Hells Kitchen and an easy walk to Times Square. The location is also excellent if you arrive at Newark airport, and want an easy commute to the hotel.

We stayed 2 nights in July....Very clean hotel; good coffee, tea and condiments choices in lobby; room was very quiet except for a little road noise late at night, compfortable beds/pillows, should have at least 1 sitting chair in guestrooms ....excellent rooftop sunset views ......hotel restaurant menu looked good and reasonable priced...but did not get opportunity to try it out this time...

This weekend I stayed at this property for my birthday trip to NY. I booked two rooms through Hotels Tonight. I can say that I had a nice stay and enjoyed the hotel. However, the interaction I had with one of the front desk agents made the stay not good at all and it made me very uncomfortable. The front desk agent named Moustafa was very rude to me and friends during our entire trip. From the time we checked in, he was very rude and unprofessional. I arrived to the hotel around 10:30-10:45, I was able to check into one of the rooms and had to wait for the other room to become available. I asked if I could have the room soon as it was ready. The young lady that originally checked me in said that she can do what she could, then the gentleman interjected saying that check is at 3, he continue to insert himself in the conversation I was having with the young lady. The room I was checked into was 1001. Moustafa told myself and my friend who was checking into the second room that the room we were going to get was 1002, we asked if we can rooms next to each other. While we waited for the second room, I was in my room 1001. I called down to check on the status of the second room at this time it was 1:30. I called down to ask the status of the room and asked for new pillows for the room. He proceeded to lie to me over the phone and argue with me about the room, We were told repeatedly that 1002 was our second room, he proceeds to tell me that is not my room and the room I was getting was 1007. At 3:00 I proceeded down stairs and he gave us the keys to the room 1007, and I requested that I have pillows, it was not done when I first asked for them. He was very malicious, when it came to making us wait until 3pm to check into the rooms. As someone who works in this industry, this is very unacceptable and unprofessional. My guest and myself felt very uncomfortable after this first encounter. When we checked out, we asked for our bags to be held. When we returned to collect our bags, we had asked another young lady if anyone turned in sunglasses, one of my friends left them in the lobby. When we asked about the glasses, before even attempting to look, he once again interjected and said there were not any here. His delivery was sooo rude, all we asked were there any glasses left behind and look. He then began to argue with us again saying he was there all day. Overall the stay could have been better, I just feel that me and my guest were discriminated against from the beginning. I spent my money here for my birthday to be treated and talked to so nasty by one of your staff members. ALSO, at check out I was charged an additional $53.00 "service fee". I was not informed about this charge and it is not posted anywhere on the website. This needs to be posted on your website and needs to be mentioned to guest at check in, if this is a such thing. After having $200 held on my card and then charged an additional fee was just the icing on the cake. I usually do not write reviews but I was very upset about my experience.
