Worst Experience Ever on Vacation

I have never formally reviewed a vacation anywhere or at anytime in over 25 years, but our experience at Topnotch was so bad, I want people to be aware before they have a similarly bad experience and waste ALOT of money..... We initially booked a unit back in October for a 12/27-12/31 stay that would perfectly accommodate 4 adults and 4 kids. The reservation person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful in making sure it would be the right unit for us. Upon arrival, we went to the front desk and said we have you in X unit and these are the directions....I thought it looked further than the reservation agent said, but I thought it was just me. When we got to the unit at the top of the hill, 1/2 of the outside lights were out and we had to trek up a set of unlit steps carrying our bags/ski stuff. The railing walking down the steps broke with a little pressure applied. Once we entered the unit we were met with an awful smell of burnt wires that permeated the entire 2 floors of the unit and there were only beds for 6 and we were a party of 8....After reaching out to the front desk, they said oh yeah, the owner of the other unit had an “emergency” and this was the best they could do....and btw the stove is broke, that’s the burnt wire smell. They also said they had no other units and would try to find additional mattresses to put on the floor (able to locate 1 and we luckily had an aero bed). I asked to have the GM call me, and he never did. The room manager called me and said he would try to find us additional accommodations (but wasn’t able to)...they opened up the partially finished basement to us that had been locked and bought their own aero bed (unbelievable this resort had to go out and buy one) and set it up down there. Now we had a burnt wire smell on al 3 levels of the unit....3 of the 4 adults suffered from headaches on the first 3 nights there and the smell remained the entire time despite them giving us candles to burn. we basically couldn’t stay in the unit for more than 1 hour at a time, and the stove was broken the entire time(repair man said needed to be replaced completely) causing us to have to eat out the entire time. Upon checkout they wanted to give us 1 night free, which we said wasn’t enough, they offered 2 and a 1k credit towards another stay (laughable). We are still waiting for the GM to call us back to settle..two weeks later and counting. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere other than Topnotch because it’s anything but

Mediocre Spa

Long Sault, Canada

I went for a girls weekend to visit the spa. My friend and I usually go to another resort in Vermont but thought we would try TopNotch for a change. For the price I was expecting more much more of the spa. Resort rooms nice. View of the mountains nice. Food good but expensive. Workout facility above average.
