Amazing time here!

Right before our trip here we read some of the negative reviews on Trip Advisor and felt a little worried. However, those reviews are all from years ago, and we have nothing but good things to say after our experience! We stayed in the Victoria's Garden in the carriage house, which I can highly recommend. This room only shared one wall with another room and had no one above us. We heard no other guests the whole time. The spa tub was great. The room was perfectly air conditioned (a blessing in July!) and the wifi worked great as well. The grounds outside of our room were beautiful and we had fun walking around and seeing what was growing there. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the waiter and chef were super accommodating that my husband and I were vegetarian. We had a very delicious meal and an amazing dessert. We also enjoyed chatting with our waiter and being in the beautifully decorated dining room. Breakfast was great as well, with many different options all included in the price of our room. We also enjoyed getting to watch the chickens run by the window as we ate. Overall we had a lovely time here and wish we could have stayed longer!

Good bed. Good shower. Good breakfast.

Toronto, Canada

And that was all we needed. We arrived just before 9pm and left just after 9am so everything else the Inn had to offer - historic property, nice gardens, antiques, vintage (Victorian) decor and ambiance - was kind of wasted on us. We arrived late without a reservation, on a Thursday in low season, and they gave us a reduction on the room price which I thought was smart in their part and certainly nice for us. Could we have found the good bed etc elsewhere for less? Maybe; I don’t know. But when you’ve been on the road for more than 8 hours, after a couple of tough days and nights at home, you really don’t care. Normally we do the ten hour drive from Ontario to NH in one shot but we weren’t able to leave early enough to do that so decided to just find someplace to stay wherever we were between 8-9 pm. Arlington Inn was in the right place at the right time. Our room, on the main floor to the left of the front door was very large with a full fledged sitting room, working fireplace (which we didn’t need in June), ceiling fan, ample lighting, canopy queen size bed, four large windows and a door with screen door to the outside. And bonus: a night light in the bathroom which to my mind is a small but significant amenity and I always wish more hotels provided it. The bathroom was small-ish but certainly adequate with plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Breakfast, included in the room price, was simple but of very good quality, ordered from a menu, served in a sunroom beside the gardens. There was a choice of four ‘mains’ which came with yogurt and fresh muffin as well as coffee and juice. A couple of minor gripes: - it is June; I think the Christmas decor should be gone from the mantle in the room - in searching for a hairdryer I came upon a prior occupant’s clothes in the cupboard beneath the TV - for a spacious property in a rural area there was a surprising amount of street noise. All in all it worked for us and I would recommend it.
