One of Rhode Island’s most historic hotels

Hotel Viking is an iconic Rhode Island hotel and is now part of the Historic Hotels of America group. The hotel opened its doors back in the 1920’s and perfectly captures the glamour and style of that era, with an impressive mock-Georgian facade and an elegant interior complete with Golden Age styling and furnishings. Enjoy award-winning fare at the One Bellevue dining room or take to the rooftop for drinks in style at the Top of Newport bar. Thanks to its central location, guests can reach The Breakers, Easton’s Beach and more in just a short drive and then retire of an evening to the elegant guest room for a great night’s sleep.

Positive experience all around

We booked a one night stay over April vacation and took our two children. We had a great experience and would most definitely stay here again! Our room was ready on time and was very clean. The first thing we noticed was how friendly the hotel staff was. The valet attendants, the front desk staff, the activities coordinator, and the coffee shop and restaurant staff were all super friendly and helpful. We were even greeted by the general manager in the lobby. The kids had a blast making slime in the activity room and enjoyed the indoor pool. We found the pool to be a bit crowded (expected on school vacation week) but clean and plenty of towels were available (unlike the lack thereof some have mentioned in the reviews). We enjoyed the meals we ate in the hotel restaurant - had lunch there the day we arrived and breakfast the next morning. There is an adorable little coffee shop/market right in the hotel that looks like it was decorated by Chip and Joanna Gaines! It offers coffee drinks, smoothies, and baked goods. And we never waited more than a few minutes for food or beverage service. All in all, we enjoyed our little stay at Hotel Viking and would definitely recommend it.

The Viking

The worst hotel I have ever stayed. Horrible service , did not give a dam about the customer. I will never stay there again. Not clean, rude , very poor value Added all kinds of hidden costs. Very sad
