Nice place

We have stayed at this hotel before and had a great time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds. The only negative I have is that the bathroom in the first room I stayed in really needs updating. The tub and shower head are so old and outdated. The room Is lovey and spacious but the bathroom detracts for the overall experience. The second night we were put in a corner room. Same niceness but the bathroom has a few updated features. Starting with a newer shower head. One other noticeable item would be while sitting in the room you can look out and see that the outside needs to be painted. I do hope that they paint. I would hate to see that the outside of this hotel, which can be pricey, fall into disrepair.

Excellent Hotel With One Exception

Farmington Hills, Michigan

The Bluenose Inn is a well-run, very nice place on a hill overlooking the water. We had a large, comfortable room in the Mizzentop building, with a nice balcony and a great view of the bay. My only complaint is that you can only sit at the pool completely exposed to the sun.The website calls itself a "resort," and my wife and I planned to spend some time at the pool in the late afternoons, as it was sunny and 85+ degrees every day. We were nonplussed to see the pool had lounge chairs without any shade. I asked the manager if we could get an umbrella and was told that they blow away. I've been at many hotels where there is wind and the management seems to have ho problem providing shade with umbrellas or some cover, so the blowing away reason doesn't make sense. Even though the walk was only 15-20 minutes into town, after the first night we ended up driving to town as most of the walk is on a busy street that the hotel is on. But it is definitely walkable. All in all I recommend the Bluenose, unless you want to sit at a pool on hot summer days in the shade.
