An extremely frustrating experience and not worth it!

Houston, Texas

Our family flew in to Las Vegas in order to drive to the nearby national parks in Utah for a 2 week vacation. We chose the Waldorf (previously the Mandarin) because it was the only we could find that did not have a casino attached it.. Upon arrival, the hotel staff were nice and polite and checked us in promptly. However, thinking we were getting a double queen room, we were surprised to see two smaller beds in the room which, as we found out later that night, were extremely uncomfortable, dipped in the middle so that we kept rolling into each other, and could barely accommodate 2 grown people. When we mentioned this to the front staff upon check out, we were promised a junior suite for our return stay 2 weeks later so that our child, who has special medical needs, would be more comfortable. When I booked the rooms several months ago, I specifically booked city view rooms and specifically requested - as well as called the hotel to make sure the requests would be met - that our room not face the Strip or be near elevators or staircases due to noise levels. I always request this from every hotel we stay at since loud noise can trigger seizures in our child. I also requested a refrigerator in the room for medical purposes. So after driving 3 hours for our return stay at the Waldorf, upon check in, I was told that not only did they not a have the junior suite room available that I was promised and upgraded to 2 weeks earlier, but that they did not have any city view rooms available as someone had "accidentally" canceled my original reservation! They put us into a double bed Strip-view room on a lower floor near the street that was completely ramshackled and dilapidated - stains everywhere, and I mean everywhere (walls, furniture, bed, ceiling), dirty carpet, and severely chipped furniture. The noise levels were too loud for our child as well. Upset, we called the reservation supervisor and after 30 minutes, she was able to find us the promised junior suite (the one that the front check-in staff said did not even exist and was not available at all), but could not explain why my original reservation had been mysteriously canceled. We had to wait in the dirty room for 3 hours before they moved us. The junior suite they placed us in was located facing the Strip and next the elevators, so we could still here music and noise through the windows, but luckily it did not cause seizures in our child. They also forgot the refrigerator for medical purposes. We were never offered any compensation, discount, or other apology for the entire mess and debacle. The Waldorf Astoria is now part of the Hilton family and we used our Hilton Honors credit card and Honors membership for our 2 stays and expected better. We were so happy to leave the hotel the next morning to fly back home and will never stay there again. The Waldorf was an unhappy, frustrating, negative end to our 2 week family vacation.

Awesome as the Waldorf Astoria can get!!!

Port Saint Lucie, Florida

This is our second time here and now the first time in the Waldorf Astoria. We stayed in other W.A. all over, but this is Las Vegas and this is where the fun is. Same decor, staff, excellent service by all and our suite is a perfect view of every angle possible!!! The strip, the pool, the Aria, and the apartments across the street. Thank goodness we had some shades closed on our windows!!! Valet Area was superb as last time. Daniella, William And Glen were welcoming with their great attitude, manners, and their happy and friendly conversations. At the front desk, we encountered Jenleen who waited on us with a flawless check in!!! Our room was spacious, clean, large fun living room, 2 flat screen TV’s, an awesome two person shower, a window front bath tub, which We both used, his and her mirror’s and sink, and a draw safe that we used all the time And we love the Valet closet that we use all the time for deliveries from hotel staff.Great closet!!! We did eat breakfast at the Zen Rest in which they changed the name just a little bit, but it’s the same menu, same food and same buffet. It needs a little change because a buffet is for guys like me to help my self and take as much as I want, here you have to order your eggs and what ever bread or toast that you want. They serve you behind the sneeze glass. Oh well, maybe we’ll see some changes in the near future. The pool, in which we spent every day when sunny, had plenty of lounge chairs and the water was warm. You can get your Swimming in due to the long length of the pool. You can easily get your strokes in the water. Gracious pool attendant’s always there to offer help, take drink and lunch orders and they were... DIANE, KAINANI, PAOLA, and DENISE!!! Thank you!!! Nice sized gym with plenty of treadmills, bikes, weight machines, and free weights and TV’s, in which we did use everyday. And we stopped at the SKY BAR every night for our night cap after dinner at other hotels and gambling, and there is were we met HEEMO who was in control of the bar late at night and made a great conversation!!! And we can’t forget about WILLIAM the bellman, who helped us when we arrived and helped us when we left!!! Terrific!!! And finally, WALTER, the in-house Limo driver with his minted out, shiny AUDI, who took us safely to Atlantic Aviation for our trip back East to New Jersey. Overall, we love this hotel!!! No gambling here, it’s only a short walk to Aria and plenty of shopping across the street at the mall with high end stores. Nice, quiet peaceful, and Zenfully nice!!! We will be back!!! Enjoy!!!
