How does management create such a pervasive culture of poor service. Quite a feat.

Based on multiple stays at this property (the room comes with the annual convention package) this is a hotel with a staff which delights in saying no to the simplest request. Getting the desk staff or, for that matter, a concierge to simply look you in the eye is too much to ask. "How was your stay with us", on checkout? Not at this hotel. They apparently could not care less. Asking two ladies at the concierge station when housekeeping would be making up the room at 4:30 p.m. was a great imposition. Any apology? Not on your life. A nice enough looking place from a distance but the lobby, with its soaring atrium has all of the warmth of an urban office building. Cold, hard finishes with a staff to match. How much must these people hate their jobs that they are willing to take it out on the guests? A true case study in bad hospitality management.

Outstanding in Boston

South Florida

I have stayed at many hotels with many brands in Boston over the years. This Westin is one of the best I have stayed at. The hotel is in the booming Seaport District. There are a good number of good restaurants in short walking distance. I am a runner and the hotel even emailed me running maps on my request prior to my stay. At the hotel at check-in, they gave me a small route map to carry with me while I ran. It worked great. Front desk staff are very helpful. When I checked in, they had some type of short computer malfunction. The genetleman checking me in quickly was able to make interesting small talk with me while they waited for the computer to come back up. The room I had was spacious and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The view was nice. The gym is pretty spacious and has a good amount of machines and equipment. I had dinner at the Irish restaurant on site. The beer was good and the food was very good as well. The Westin Experience Specialists, Colleen and Matt, were great. Everybody on the team seemed to go above and beyond to make you feel like a VIP, even in a very big hotel like this. This is a great property.
