A Jewel in Boston

Utopia, Texas

The hotel is under renovations - and you can hardly tell. The staff is warm and friendly, the attention to details is top notch. The room amenities and excellence. The bed was very comfortable. The rooms are of ample size and not cookie-cutter squares. Th rooms have loots of light when you want it and very dark when it was time to sleep.

Wedding anniversary gone wrong

Hartford, Connecticut

So our first stay with Taj Boston was for our wedding night, yet the Taj was unaware of our most joyous day as we didn’t feel the need to make this known. Well upon our arrival then.. we were enthusiastically greeted and helped from the car bags and all. We would come and go and each time we were greeted with the same enthusiasm addressed us by our last name and often asked if we could be helped regarding restaurants night life or just things to do. At night we would return to our room with the bed turned down slippers beside the bed and chocolates left on our pillow. All done by the Taj as complimentary... not something asked for or requested . We felt overjoyed and and important because of the little details that the staff representing Taj did. Made us eager to return to celebrate our anniversaries to come. Fast forward to last week July 2019. We arrived pulled behind two cars located in front of the Taj were others were unloading or loading needless to say I waited 10mins while watching staff chit chat, I got out of the car removed my bags Walked to the entry then afterwards was asked if I was checking in?? Really and I continued to check in desk the lobby had no life it was cold the attendant demeanor was as the lobby cold... and their was construction that we were not made aware of nor saw on the innercircle website when I reserved not made aware of any closures for renovations when I called a couple weeks back to confirm our reservation. However we were told about 35.00 facility fee and we’d receive free complimentary breakfast and appetizers during our Stay. Well that isn’t free and we did not partake so I guess they keep your money. There was no room service and there was no upstairs brunch all the things we had before. Again prior to arriving we had no knowledge. That itself took away a lot before even getting keys to the room. On to the room..... We were placed on the 6th floor as soon as we got off the elevator there was a stale odor, turn the corner there were raggedy doors dirty stained hallway carpets omg we felt like we checked into a Ramada inn,.. we go into the room and all the furniture appeared to be rejected older abolished furniture from a 1980’s room the yellow couch cushions were dirty the legs wiggled. Now as I said this was a return based on our previous stay experience and we decided to celebrate our anniversary here again Well... the bathroom lightening was so dim the vanity mirror which should light up did not the bed was extremely high we are 5’2 and 5’4. There was a stool to get in the bed smh in the middle of the night my wife forgot about the bed and fell onto the floor and still as I’m doing thi review is sore and has a huge bruise on her back and side. This whole experience was supposed to be an anniversary surprise for my wife instead it became a bad dream. The bed poles were nailed down the air only worked by the window and did not cool off the rest of the room which was so dated even the thermostat was dated. I felt like the building said Taj but it was far from it .. and using the we are renovating to make Taj even better should be no excuse for what guest endure the quality was less than none the room type we the same as the first time the then room was 1000 times better than this and this Hell hole cost way more ... over 600.00$ for the night... so sad if you want the luxury Taj always is known for Taj Boston isn’t going to be it ... thanks for a bad anniversary Taj
