Beautiful property, but not “luxury”

San Francisco, California

Have always wanted to stay at the famous pink hotel. Would opt for alternative next time. No doubt, the hotel is beautiful to look at. However, it’s not “luxury” in amenities, fixtures, or service. Just a few examples: “new” building rooms were fine, but small and average fixtures, even when compared to other Marriott properties of lesser stature; pool area is tiny, although you are allowed to use the pool next door, just not the infinity pool; had to call 3 times and ask to speak to a manager to get robes delivered to the room (they weren’t present when we arrived, but the sign about the cost for taking them was); the included breakfast was okay, but the breakfast room could use some updating (tables are either too high or two low to sit at comfortably; those are the small details that signify luxury). On a positive note, the lady who cleaned our room was pleasant and always smiling. We still had a wonderful time. Just judging the hotel on its merits. We were also disappointed that we didn’t get the complementary upgrade that comes with are Bonvoy status that we get at many other Marriott properties. The clearly had the upgrade room, because we paid extra to get it.

Great hotel and location, pick the tower

New York City, New York

I recently stayed at the Royal Hawaiian. The hotel and grounds are gorgeous and the historical significance is very impressive. I was upgraded to a one of their largest ocean front suite with a HUGE living room and bedroom in the historic building. Despite the size of the room, I greatly recommend the Mailani tower. The views from the tower are incredible, the balconies are huge (no balconies in the historical building), it is closer to the beach, and the lobby has a complimentary breakfast and an evening cocktail/appetizer buffet. The location of this hotel is not to beat and the private beach is probably the best on Waikiki. Stay here, but stay in the Mailani tower.

Every Monday, the resort pays homage to the Royal lifestyle by holding an exciting feast event. Starting on the sweeping main lawn, guests slowly make their way to the sacred Helumoa grounds before enjoying a feast of varied flavours and intriguing scents. Laced with rich dance and music, this dinner show provides a glimpse into the heritage and history of this Island nation and is the only dinner show in Waikiki set on the oceanfront.

Outdoor Pool

The resort's private pool is a stylish venue for either cooling down or soaking up the sunshine. Heated yet using soft saltwater for a purer swim, guests can opt for a payable Cabana for an extra special experience or just lounge on one of the many chairs.

This exquisite spa centre provides a much needed respite from working life and offers a range of relaxing treatments and services.
