Pink Palace is fabulous

Love this place! My dad turned 91 and his wish was to have all 7 children celebrate with him. (From PA, AL, FL) My sister and I stayed here while the rest of the fam were about 1/2 mile away. AMAZING! From the old charm to the amazing staff at check in. Please let them welcome you! The guys at the pool area-Gabe, Chuck, Nelson, Micah, Joshua & Mike B will make sure you have the best seat at the beach and keep you laughing! Housekeeper for room 114 is absolutely a charm and kept our room spotless. We were met with "hi cousin" from the Valet team who made sure we always had cold water before venturing out. (Were so informative, kind, friendly and helpful.) Go, relax, soak up the love of the island & take in the sunrise over Diamond Head and the amazing sunsets from the beach. Will definitely go back!

Great location in the heart of Waikiki Beach, history, and excellent service.

Austin, Texas

Positives: Fantastic position on Waikiki Beach with perfect beach access. Generally attentive, kind staff. History and classy ambiance. Negatives: No desk in room. Horrible lounge for Titanium Elite members. Arrival: Arrived by Uber. Doormen completely ignored me. Efficient check-in early in the morning. Room (general): King room (room 316). Spacious room but use of space was inefficient. With a little rearranging, this room would comfortably accommodate a love seat and a desk. As it is, there’s really no good place to watch TV and there’s no desk. I was traveling for work, so I had to use a nightstand as a desk. Large Samsung TV, king bed, small table with two chairs, mini-refrigerator, mini-coffee maker, and small dresser. Really odd component of this room- walk in closet and a separate additional closet. Two closets wasted square footage, but this is a historic hotel. And most historic hotels have rooms with quirks stemming from remodeling over the yeas. Room 316 has a view of the entrance to the Sheraton Waikiki next door. Bed: Great bed with very good linens. Bathroom: small bathroom with extremely tight counter space. Shower only. High quality toiletries. Excellent hairdryer. High quality, luxurious bath towels. Noise/sleep quality: Very good sleep quality. This room was at the end of a hall, and I didn’t hear other guests. Housekeeping: Excellent housekeeping. I wrote notes to the housekeeper each day, and she read them and accommodated my requests. Kudos to housekeeping! Specifically, kudos to Kathleen on floor 3. Gym: on site but didn’t have time to use it. Pool: small pool near the beach side. Restaurants/bars: Restaurant and bar on site. I didn’t try them on this trip. Lounge: The concierge lounge for platinum and titanium members was pathetic. A colleague was staying at the Sheraton next door, and the lounge at the Sheraton blew away the crummy little lounge at the Royal Hawaiian. Breakfast was sparse and staff in the lounge were either jaded from all the Japanese tourists or just zoned out. Surprisingly, the fruit for breakfast wasn’t even that good- just so-so. And there were no water bottles available in the lounge- zero, zilch, complete absence of water bottles. So I got some from the Sheraton next door. Extremely disappointing lounge experience. Parking: valet available IT issues: None experienced. WiFi worked well. Grounds: Manicured, beautiful grounds. Overall staff attitude: Overall, all staff members except the valets/bellhops were superb. The bellhops simply focused on the Japanese tourists and no one else. Tips: (1) This hotel is in the heart of Waikiki. Shopping everywhere and tons of restaurants within walking distance. (2) If you want to experience less crowded and prettier beaches, consider a day trip to Kailua. Various operators provide nearby van pickup for transit to Kailua. (3) The hotel, through its partnership with the Sheraton next door, offers free use of a GoPro. But you must bring your own SD card. About our review: We’re loyal Marriott Titanium status travelers. We’ve been all over the planet, which gives us perspective. And we compose our reviews based on our experiences, not others’ reviews.
