Wonderful stay at the Hyatt Waikiki

Lahaina, Hawaii

We just stayed at the Hyatt Waikiki for a night to celebrate our anniversary and were very impressed. Although I was not expecting it, they were able to accommodate us in an Oceanview room and it was spectacular. The views were amazing and the room was nice, clean and had good decor. The staff at the Front Desk (Stacey, Olivia and Anuilani) were the best, so friendly and even allowed us to check in a little early. The location is prime and we enjoyed spending the day at the beach and surfing Waikiki. We will definitely come back again soon!

Second time around

Los Angeles, California

You can look up my review from last year if you want to read about the general experience. I just want to add a few things we learned this time around: 1. If you're read the reviews carefully, you've learned that the elevator situation isn't the greatest. We got pretty adept at taking the service elevators when they were available. One thing we figured out was that they can be taken all the way down to street level! (The regular guest elevators stop at the 2nd floor, lobby level. There is another elevator between the two towers that goes from street level to fifth floor, the spa.) This was great for us as we had a toddler and stroller with us. 2. Because the guest elevators and service elevators aren't linked, the elevators stop all the time at floors where nobody is waiting. (Guest hit the buttons for both and take whatever arrives first.) That annoyance just adds to the negative elevator experience. 3. Having read the poor reviews of the car rental companies in the hotel but also not wanting to rent from elsewhere and pay to park in the poorly reviewed parking structure, I used the Turo app for the first time. Think Airbnb, but for cars. It felt a bit strange to be driving someone else's personal vehicle, but I got over it. The owner charged me a small fee/nt. to park in their building, but it was only a fraction of what it would've cost to park at the hotel and was just a ten minute walk away. (You might even find something closer; we were limited in that we needed a child car seat.) Other than that, customer service was outstanding, just like last time. We stayed on points and applied a Club Lounge certificate again, and it was a great experience and expertly staffed. I really do recommend this hotel highly unless you've got mobility issues that will be made all the more problematic by the elevator system design.
