Amazing anniversary trip

los angeles, ca

While planning our trip to Waikiki for our 1 year anniversary, I invested a lot of time researching direct ocean view hotel rooms either on or near the beach. When comparing all the options, it seemed that the ocean front room at the Hyatt Regency seemed to offer the best value compared to the others (i.e. Moana Surfrider, Royal Hawaiian, Outrigger Beach, Sheraton, Alohilani). I made the reservation at the Hyatt and emailed them a few days in advance of check in requesting a room on a high floor with a center facing ocean view and a glass shower door. I also let them know about the anniversary we were celebrating on the trip. Within one day, I received a response from Kelly Doyle, the Assistant Reservations Manager, advising that she would do her best to honor all of my requests. When we arrived to the hotel, I have to say that the entire experience exceeded my wildest expectations. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and presented us with beautiful orchid leis at check-in, along with a certificate for a bottle of sparkling wine. We were given a room on the 36th floor with the most gorgeous center facing ocean view I could ever imagine. There were orchids laid out on the bed in the shape of a heart with a box of chocolates waiting for us. They even were able to get the glass shower door! The room was spotlessly clean and modern and a generous size. The bed was super comfortable, and balcony was perfect for staring at the sunsets. They also allowed us to have a later checkout, which was so nice of them. We were both so touched and impressed that Kelly and her team went to such great lengths to make our trip special and memorable. This hotel offers some other great features that make it an even better value, including: Beach chairs, boogie boards, and inflatables - you are still technically paying for these as part of the resort fee, but those are things that you wouldn't get at any of the other hotels, and they still charge the same fee! Refillable water bottle - brilliant idea! I have never been on a vacation where I didn't have to spend a dime on bottled water. Great feeling. I was expecting the worst in reading other reviews of the elevators, but we never waited more than 3 minutes. Buffets are not our kind of thing, but we didn't mind since there are dozens of fantastic restaurants within a 5 minute walk (great options in the Royal Hawaiian Center and the International Marketplace). Yes, the pool is small, but we spent all of our time swimming in the warm and crystal clear ocean across the street. Two ABC stores in the hotel were extremely convenient. The location of this hotel is perfect to walking around Waikiki as it is right in the center of the action. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck in Waikiki, I don't think you can do any better than this hotel. Thank you so much to the Hyatt team for giving us the best vacation we could ever imagine, and we can't wait to come back again!

Check-In A Nightmare

Belleville, Illinois

Checking into this hotel was a nightmare. They had several lines of people checking in and after they took your name they put you on a list. Honestly, they should have been better prepared for the arrival of all these guests.
