First time at this hotel

Mission Viejo, California

We picked this hotel because of location and the ability to use points. We are thoroughly enjoying our stay. We are half way through and will recommend this to others. The location is convenient. The black rock is entertaining to watch. They have a nightly torch light and hula that is beautiful. We have an excellent view and nicely upgraded room. There is a morning brunch that is included with our status and it is a wonderful brunch with variety every morning. There is a free shuttle that runs to Lahaina which is wonderful. All and all a great pick. The down fall is the lack of chairs around the pool- can’t imagine what it is like in summer. The chairs are filled early

It's a beautiful location and property, staff is a hit or miss!

Gandhinagar, India

Staying here for 5 nights anniversary + babymoon. My husband is a plantium ambassador used his suit night awards for upgrade. Over all it's been okay so far. According to my experience, below are the pros and cons. Pros- Location! Beautiful, right at black rock. I could see folks jumping from my bed ( for the second room we got, -the first room in building 6was huge n had unobstructed ocean views, we could see whales in the horizon) Staff ( some of them)- The bellman who brought our luggage to the room was super nice and informative ! The chef that makes eggs is awesomeeeeee! Remembers you n how you like your eggs! Thank you!! Platinum benefits- Full buffet breakfast plus valet free parking plus internet. Grounds- beautiful grounds ( very large) Shuttle was great! Cons- Miscommunication- Due to dietary restrictions, I wanted to have a kitchenette. I called the elite marriot line n also requested with the assigned ambassador person. I was told there WERE options n we could get it. I also checked online in the room types. Was told the request had been made. Only yo reach there n be told NONE of the rooms have any kitchenettes. The one we were given had a microwave. Good enough, was okay since icoykd at least warm my homemade food. Only to realise the room was FAR from the rest of the resort. I found my 6 months pregnant body exhausted everytime I wanted to use the pool or the shuttle. So I requested for a room change . The women on the phone told me that I must know that I was upgraded to this room. Well! Yeah I know, because I used my suite night awards. She said she would call back after looking at options n 3hrs later, no phone call, I called back Inquring n they said a much smaller room was available in building 3 (with a lanai that could hold only 1chair). I was like sure, that works till the walk isnt far. I requested for the microwave to be moved to that room or for them to provide one to us. I was told that could cost us $35 plus taxes. I was like its already therein the previous roomplus I requested for one long time ago bla bla. They said they could give us a kettle for warm water only to come to find out they didn't. Ugh! Another not so fun incident I want to mention is that I called a couple of times to ask about the parking charges n was told its 30+taxes for each day. Since we were arriving mid morning and only needed the car for a couple of days, we decided to uber thinking parking charges may not make it worth it for the entire stay. Only to find out it was free for us n also for everyone on the first day, had they told me that when I called at least 2-3times before finalizing the hotel, I would have just got the rental from the airport. Finally after getting the car , when we requested the valet to park our car we were told, it's not free :D , we were like hmm, okay thank you for telling us that! I check with the women on the front desk ( so we could just self park for a lower fee- if at all we needed to pay) , only to me told its not free, then I requested her to check n she is like oh they waived it off for you ( its 10pm, we had a long day n m tired, all this confusion isnt making me happy). Mind you , they gave my husband a bracket type thing that helps staff recognize he is n elite member ( n he is wearing it the whole time). No water in the room- not even a small bottle. There are water filling stations though that we appreciated, but again not on every floor) n Farr from where we were. Resort fees- what was it for again?? Overall, I would recommend the stay for location ! I for one, will try westin next time.
