3 star property, 4 star location, 5 star prices

This resort was recommended to me and overall we were really surprised at the disconnect between the property and the price. At $800/night we had a pretty small room with a distant ocean view. The St regis on the other side of the island (which has one of the most amazing views I’ve ever seen) was less than ours. We had just stayed at the Four Seasons Maui, which wasn’t much more, but the facility and the service was a night and day difference. The staff is friendly enough but everything shuts at 9:30. There were several people enjoying the fire pit which turned off at 9:30 sharp and the hotel staff would not turn it back on even though several people were making that request. For $800/ night I expect staff to figure it out, especially when there were many people trying to enjoy the evening. There was nothing else to do once that was turned off so we went to bed annoyed. Overall the property is fine but even in Kauai this should not have been so expensive. Good for management for getting this much out of me but never again would I stay here or recommend this property. Totally feel suckered.

Absolutely Outstanding

My best friend and I recently stayed at Koa Kea and this resort absolutely exceeded all our expectations. Having never been to Kauai before, we were unsure about where to stay. A friend suggested this resort to my best friend so we decided to give it a go. Looking at the website, I have to admit I was a little skeptical but as soon as I drove up and walked through the lobby, I knew we had found a little slice of heaven. The resort is stunning and small enough that you really feel the personal service. All the staff went out of their way to help if ever you needed anything. The breakfast each morning was delicious and we also had the tasting menu for dinner one night which we both really enjoyed. The beds were probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The bathrooms were stunning and modern. They say love is in the details, and this resort is all about the details. From the fresh lei greeting and personally showing you to your room at check in, chocolates and water each night in your room - we were made to feel so incredibly special. Thank you Koa Kea. I will definitely be back!
