Location make flaws no so bad

Took a trip here with my girlfriend for a week long vacation and it was definitely worth it outside of its flaws. The location is perfect from the Kona Airport you turn left at the light and make a left at the next light. (30 minutes away but the only light) the resort is right on the ocean and it’s amazingly peaceful. Getting back and fourth from the main lobby to the room you have 3 options, tram (extremely slow and random), boat (really just a floating tram, doesn’t run to ocean tower in the mornings even though the boats are docked there and you have to smell the water, also slower than the tram), and finally walk (which we ended up doing most of the time when it wasn’t peak Temperature out. Our first room had such a strong mildew odor, we attempted to air it out just in case no one has been in the room in a long time or something, it got slightly better. Room phone rings and it’s another hotel guest said he was in the room the day before and was wondering if he left his sunglasses in the room. At the end of the conversation I asked if the reason he changed rooms had anything to do with a smell and he said, “Oh there DEFINITELY WAS A SMELL, it was moldy, nasty, as soon as we walked in we had to leave because it was so bad.” They changed rooms and got move to the top floor. Needless to say after that reassurance, we went to the front desk and requested a change. The new room still had a scent but it wasn’t as bad as the first, but the view was A1! Our room was facing Buddha Point and no longer facing the pool which we realized could possibly get loud when the pool got crowded. My girlfriend wasn’t a big fan of the pillows but I figured that was just being picky. The sunsets were amazing and I proposed to my now fiancé at sunset. The relaxed atmosphere and wonderful people made the trip a wonderful one and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to the hotel again. Highly recommend a rental car to get off the resort and see the island. The Waipi’O Valley hike is treacherous but nice. Akaka falls is way easier to go to.

Beaverton, Oregon

Absolutely the best vacation I've ever had! The hotel is beautiful with every amenity imaginable. The staff extremely friendly and genuinely happy to help. Accommodations were beautiful and housekeeping perfect everyday. On-site restaurant food was a little pricey but that's usually to be expected at a hotel. Overall an amazing experience.
