Laid back

Loved staying in a bungalow. Very laid back. Highly recommended if you like the idea of staying somewhere that doesn't have the tickbox accoutrements of many chain hotels. Staying midweek in December, everywhere was quiet, so none of the pools was busy, and the bar was quiet. The décor of the bungalows is white. It seems slightly odd having a kitchen but no ability to use it, not even a kettle. Actually, for us that would be the main criticism - a coffee machine of some sort is essential. Crawling out of bed just long enough to get a coffee is part of a relaxing stay. Calling for room service or wandering round to the bar just isn't the same. The location means that

Resort Fee Waived $35 for Dirty Room with Construction!

Seattle, Washington

Check-In & SPG: No mention of SPG at all, not a single word No benefits apparently? ZERO……. And slow check in as she struggled with the other guests checking in. Room: Cool black and white trendy room with a new bathroom. Very comfortable beds! Drapes have stains as my travel partner pointed out and holes in them that you really get to see in the morning when the sun shines in. Speaking of cleanliness after checking in I looked around quick before going to dinner and found a clump of red long hair in my shower drain of which I put in the trash. Of course, this got us to looking around and then found plenty of long black hair on the white marble floor mostly by the toilet and small pebbles\chunks that I couldn’t identify till later. We just cleaned up the pretty bathroom and I made the mistake of trying to just let it go and we went to dinner. After returning from dinner my room smelled like fresh paint which I usually love maybe because they were still doing construction at 9:45pm Friday night across the hall. Anyways I went to take a shower and turned on the ceiling fan in the bathroom and it squealed like a jet engine and then I saw the little pebbles\chunks come out on the towels below etc., I got my phone and took a video with lots of sound. I went to the front desk and told the lady about the hair, the fan, the construction and so on. She offered to remove the $35 resort fee and that was it. Even after I showed her the loud video of which she seemed genuinely horrified and said she would call maintenance, no hey we will send a maid to clean your room, or give you breakfast. But she did say the manager would contact me ASAP. Never heard from the manager. Nothing. We unhappily went back to my room ticked off frankly. Beds: My travel partners bed had hair on it which is easy to spot since they are pure white beds, but other than that it was a super comfortable bed! After we went to breakfast away from the hotel and gathered our things from the room my travel partner opened the closet door and found candy wrappers. Check Out: At checkout of course, another employee asked us how our stay was, we repeated everything, showed her the video, and she offered to take the $35 resort fee off and give us $50 credit for breakfast even though it was almost noon and we were now mad. We asked if she could at least just apply the $35 and $50 breakfast credit to the folio\bill and she did. I get that things happen, maybe the maid got interrupted while cleaning and forgot to pick up the clump of red hair in the shower and didn’t clean the bathroom floor and so on. It happens, it’s not great but things happen. No effort was made to honestly make things right at least not in my opinion. We should not have had to explain the situation twice just to get a whopping $85 off my bill. No one really seemed to care enough to want to get us to come back or worse make it right. For that reason, I would NEVER stay here, because they do not care about you as the guest. Further as an SPG Platinum Guest what is the value of staying at this hotel? No SPG benefits at all? Best of luck!
