Style over substance

London, United Kingdom

This hotel brands itself as boutique, and that's a fair statement, but while it looks good, the details and service are poor. For example, there's no mirror in the bedroom so you have to wait to go into the bathroom just to do your hair. Also, the only toiletries offered are shampoo, body lotion and soap - nothing else. When we got to the room there was no toilet paper. I went down to reception and they said that they had run out of toilet paper, and the new supply had just arrived (there was a box of toilet paper proudly displayed on the reception desk), and so one toilet roll was duly issued! I also flagged that we couldn't get into the safe box in our room (which isn't attached to anything, so you could just wander off with it), and I was told someone would come to re-set it. Despite asking 3 times during our stay, the safe box was never re-set so we couldn't use it. One day we only got one towel, while another day 2 old towels were left as well as 2 new towels, but as there's nowhere to hang towels, or to indicate you'd prefer to re-use a towel, it feels that guest convenience nor environmental concerns are high on the agenda. Also, plastic cups and disposable coffee cups are binned each day, when proper cups would help the green cause. The location is fine, right across the street from the Fox Theatre, and around 25 mins to the Olympic park and big tourist destinations of Downtown, while 15 mins in the opposite direction of Peachtree Street are a nice variety of shops, bars, restaurants and the gay district around 10th Avenue. However, for IHG, the details are missing and the service poor. Atlanta has many hotels, so maybe look elsewhere if you want more than just a nice lobby and a bed.

Not necessarily the bathroom

Staffordshire, United Kingdom

I've read a lot of reviews about how small the bathrroms are at this hotel, and yes they are really tiny. That wasn't the biggest issue for us though. I think that, although the decor and ambience of the hotel are lovely, the real problem seems to be a general deficiency in the service that is provided. There wasn't any real issue as such but there were a number of times that service wasn't great, particularly after a long flight from the UK. The coffee machine in the room was broken. Answer- you can get some coffee from the bar. We wanted a burger at 2pm. Answer- we've run out of burgers We wanted a glass of wine at 4pm. Answer- the bar is shut. There's a bar down the street. I picked the Indigo because it seemed to offer something different but I wasn't terribly impressed.
