A place that plays against PB stereotypes (and works)

Cohasset, Massachusetts

This is our second stay in a year and we hoped we’d like it as much the second time as the first. We were not at all disappointed. Palm Beach is the Over The Top capital of Florida, but the Chesterfield is friendly, comfortable and still has what it takes to deliver a most pleasant stay. It’s a short walk to the Worth Ave shopping and a short drive to most everything else. The staff have almost all been at the hotel for years, and there is real pride in sharing “their” place with guests, many of whom are repeat visitors. The value for the $ is very good or even excellent, but book well ahead and on their website. There are little finds that make the value even better, such as the Happy Hour Sun-Thursday and a continental breakfast if the AAA state is used. All this said, if you need or expect a super modern “lux life” place, go elsewhere. If you like a warm, somewhat low key stay, and one you’ll probably want to return to, go for it!

Seminole, Florida

Arriving after a tiring drive we were offered bottled water and went to our room. The superior queen had a nice view of the pool which was dirty at 3 pm . They did clean it overnight and it was as more inviting the following morning but we were checking out by then. The bed was comfortable but our “superior “ room was tiny! The only chair in it was a desk chair. The bathroom was beautifully tiled but also tight. There was confusion about our breakfast so after a hearty and tasty English Breakfast, our bill was discounted for two continental breakfasts($20) but upon checkout we learned that was a mistake and had to pay the extra$20..understandable but after paying $276 for s room not worth $176, it just left a bad taste. Do not recommend- we have been to Their property in Ireland (Ashford Castle) and this isn’t that caliber- hated the monkeys.
